With a week left in the CFL season, the playoff bracket is set in stone, but our power rankings are another story.

3DownNationThe Power Rankings are created by eleven of our contributors independently ranking each team from #1 to #9 and then averaging the scores. The previous week’s ranking is in brackets.

Enjoy the rankings and Feel free to toast us on Twitter for everything you think we were wrong.

1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1)

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have controlled the top spot in our Power Rankings all year, and going back into Week 20 with already established first place in the West wouldn’t change that. They could be back at the top next year after using their time off to sign quarterback Zach Collaros on a three-year extension.

2. Calgary Stampeders (3)

It appears that the West semifinals will be the only thing that will stop the flip-flop between the western rivals on our ranking podium, as the Stampeders once again sit in second place after trampling on the Riders. Calgary is down a spot in the current league standings, but our voters seem to be Toting the Rock fans.

3. BC Lions (2)

The Lions beat the humble Elks with their last “L” of 2022, secured a home playoff game and could bring back generation quarterback Nathan Rourke next week, but they still fell down our rankings. I think our snowbound voters must be a little jealous of Vancouver’s weather.

4. Toronto Argonauts (4)

It took a rouge over a missed field goal to pull off the feat, but the Toronto Argonauts secured first place in the East Division for the second straight season. Recent wins haven’t been pretty, but this team could become dangerous in the winter if running back AJ Ouellette makes his move.

5. Montreal Alouettes (6)

Despite the best efforts of star receiver Eugene Lewis late in the game, the Alouettes failed to sustain their hopes of a playoff byeline and are now one game under .500. Danny Maciocia has his team in the postseason as does Khari Jones, but the desired game-to-game consistency is still not there.

6. Hamilton Tigercats (5)

A walk-off field goal following a game-winning drive from their backup quarterback was what Hamilton needed to beat Ottawa in front of a sell-out crowd this week, but the team still secured a playoff spot. With five wins in their last six games, nobody is hotter than the Ticats right now, although Dane Evans’ health is clearly worrying some of our contributors.

7. Ottawa Redblacks (7)

The Redblacks put up a lot more combat this week but still couldn’t escape from the East Division basement and were officially eliminated from the playoff hunt by the Ticats. Attention now turns to which youngsters can nail their auditions for next year’s season finale and if Bob Dyce is the man to lead the team into the future.

8. Saskatchewan Roughriders (8)

Backup quarterback Mason Fine didn’t bring the spark Craig Dickenson was hoping for, and the Riders fell miserably to Calgary. Any dreams of a home Gray Cup were officially dashed in front of a half-empty Mosaic Stadium, raising questions about the team’s future.

9. Edmonton Moose (9)

Tre Ford failed to catch a second bottle blitz and the Edmonton Elks officially ended their second straight season without a win at Commonwealth Stadium. There are few positives in what was once dubbed the City of Champions, but at least they’ve found a few decent newcomers.
