This week’s headlines have been dominated by Apple’s line of iPads. The iPad Pro 11″ and 12.9″ has been updated to the latest Apple M2 processor. The slate pair also supports Apple Pencil hovers, meaning they’ll recognize the stylus from 12mm above the display. Meanwhile, Blackmagic Design confirmed that its hugely popular video editing software, DaVinci Resolve, is making its way to the iPad in both free and paid studio versions.
The other iPad announcement concerned the 10th generation iPad. The new iPad 10th generation is more of a redesigned iPad Air than a simple iPad replacement. It has a larger 10.9-inch display, a slimmer design, a faster A14 chipset, USB-C, and a higher price. Speaking of which, Apple has hiked the prices of the iPad mini across Europe and other regions, sparing only the US and Canada. In some countries prices have increased by up to 20%.
In a recent Apple note, the company has reportedly halted production of the iPhone 14 Plus due to the lack of interest. But don’t feel bad for Apple, the 14 Pro is only $100 more while the Pro Max is $200, which means most people probably paid more to get a better iPhone.
The Galaxy S23 series is shaping up to be a very incremental update. For the non-Ultra models in particular, which will reportedly keep the non-LTPO displays with the same size and resolution, the same camera configurations but get the Ultra’s overly minimalist camera design, and get a slight battery bump.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, and that’s about it. Why mess with a working formula?
Finally, it’s been reported that OnePlus will drop the Pro from its naming convention and the company’s next flagship will just be the OnePlus 11. If the rumor goes through, it would mean that the company will continue the trend of not releasing a second phone alongside its H1 flagship, as was the case with the 10 Pro.
That’s it for this week. Stay tuned!
