Atlanta, Oct. 18, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Porsche is expanding the 911 model line with the 911 Carrera T variant. The letter T stands for “Touring” and designates models with equipment that increase both driving pleasure and performance. The new 911 Carrera T comes standard with a seven-speed manual and rear seat removal, with the rear seat available as a no-cost option if desired. An eight-speed PDK is also available as an option at no extra charge. Thanks to the standard seven-speed manual transmission and numerous weight-saving features, the new 911 Carrera T weighs 1,500 kg, i.e. 100 kg. lighter than a normal 911 Carrera (PDK only). Equipped as standard with a PASM sports suspension including 10 mm lower ride height compared to the standard 911 Carrera and reduced noise insulation, the new 911 Carrera T is made for driving enthusiasts.
PASM sports suspension and sports chrono package as standard
The new 911 Carrera T positions itself between the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S. It adopts the twin-turbo six-cylinder engine from the 911 Carrera with 379 hp and 331 lb.-ft. of torque. The T variant also uses the mechanical locking differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), which is standard on the 911 Carrera S and not available on the 911 Carrera. In addition, the 911 Carrera T comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package and the PASM sports suspension, the latter is available as an option for the 911 Carrera S and not for the 911 Carrera. Rear axle steering is available as an option on the 911 Carrera T and is not available on the 911 Carrera. With the standard seven-speed manual transmission, the 911 Carrera T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. With the free eight-speed PDK, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is reduced to 3.8 seconds. Top speed is 181 mph, regardless of transmission choice.
Other T-specific features include titanium gray Carrera S wheels with a diameter of 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear. The wheels are fitted with 245/35 (front) and 305/30 (rear) tires. The 911 Carrera T is also equipped as standard with a GT sports steering wheel, sports exhaust system and four-way sports seats Plus. In addition to eliminating the rear seats and reducing soundproofing, the 911 T features thinner glass and a smaller, more compact battery.
Successful touring concept across several model series
The “T” in the model name of the Porsche 911 Carrera T stands for Touring and is rooted in the homologation of the 911 T as a touring car in 1968. The original 911 T was offered until 1973. In 2017, Porsche revived this particularly pure and light 911 variant of the 991 series. Since then, the concept has been successfully implemented in other series with the 718 Cayman T, 718 Boxster T and Macan T.
Exclusive interior and exterior details
Special dark gray accents characterize the interior of the 911 Carrera T. Contrasting elements such as the upper and lower mirror caps and the model designations on the doors and rear are painted in agate grey. In addition, the sports exhaust system has high-gloss black tailpipes.
The focus on performance continues inside the car with the standard 4-way adjustable Sort Seats Plus. Interior trim strips in black matt and inlays in black high-gloss round off the T package. Customers who want even more differentiation can choose the optional Carrera T interior package. There are also seat belts in slate gray or lizard green, stripes on the seat center panel in one of these colors, decorative stitching and 911 lettering on the headrests. Floor mats with logos and stitching in Lizard Green or Slate Gray are also part of this optional package.
Attractive options and color choices
Optionally, the 911 Carrera T can be ordered with 18-way Adaptive Sports Seats Plus or the particularly sporty and light full bucket seats, the latter with seat center panel in RaceTex. The painted rear seats can be retrofitted free of charge, but not in conjunction with carbon full bucket seats. The Carrera T interior package can also be upgraded with leather, which is used to trim the door armrests and panels, center console and dashboard. The new 911 Carrera T is available in the colors black, white, guards red and racing yellow as well as in the metallic colors jet black, gentian blue, ice gray and GT silver. Chalk, Ruby Star Neo, Carmine Red, Shark Blue and Python Green are available as special colours. In addition, the “Paint to Sample” program is available for the 911 Carrera T for the first time, which was not offered with the previous 991 generation. This expands the available palette by a further 110 colors.
The 911 Carrera T will reach US dealers by Spring 2023 and has an MSRP of $116,600, plus a $1,450 delivery, handling and handling fee.
