Starring Ryan Ottley shortly after its debut, Kirkman and Walker’s Invincible ran for 144 issues for 15 years, spawning several spinoff series and an Amazon Prime streaming animated series that has a second season in production.
According to Skybound, new comic book projects set in the Invincible world of teenage superhero Mark Grayson will also be announced.
“Wow, twenty years! I can’t believe it,” Kirkman said in Skybound’s announcement of the 20th anniversary celebration. “Invincible is something that Cory, Ryan and I have dedicated a huge part of our lives to. Now that it’s being discovered by an infinitely larger audience, it’s really awesome to see it live in so many different forms. It’s so gratifying to know that people will fall in love with Invincible for years to come.”
“I’m not normally one to get excited, but 2023 is going to be Invincible’s biggest year yet, with so many crazy and unexpected things along the way!” adds Walker. “I would say Invincible fans should brace themselves, but there really isn’t anything you can do to prepare for all the greatness that is to come.”
