David Beckham gave an emotional farewell to Queen Elizabeth II after waiting in line for over 12 hours to pay his respects to the late monarch.

The British soccer star was photographed at Westminster Hall on Friday wiping away tears. He was also seen burying his head in his hands as he stood with other mourners.

He appeared to have queued at 2am on Friday morning without his famous family and waited over 12 hours to see the Queen lying in state.

Beckham didn’t seem to mind the attention he was getting in line and even reportedly bought some donuts for lucky fans to keep them energized while they waited in the long line, one person tweeted.

Beckham was dressed in mourning, wearing a black suit and black flat cap. He took off his cap as he entered the hall.

A source told the Daily Mail that Beckham initially slipped under the radar and wasn’t photographed out of respect from fans, but that everything changed over the course of the day. Many onlookers crowded around the star to try and take photos.

“My best friend’s mom was right in front of him the whole time and he queued like her for 10 hours,” says Lizzy Lloyd tweeted, adding: “My boyfriend’s mum says he queued around 2am. He bought donuts for people around him.”

Lloyd added that Beckham “agreed to have pictures once he paid his respects to Her Majesty.”

He appeared to be the only member of his illustrious family to see the late monarch lying in state.

Several people praised Beckham for waiting in line for over 12 hours despite being a celebrity and risking being seen and approached by fans.

“Without all the ‘Wah, it’s actually hard being a star,’ for David Beckham to come alone and stand in line for 10 hours when everyone would recognize him is pretty brave. GOLDENBALLSY”, one tweeted.

“I love that he did that and didn’t take the fast lane,” agreed another.

Beckham shared how grateful he was to say goodbye to the ruler he so admired after his long wait.
