We’ve seen more news about the potential of trading the Edmonton Oilers for Jakob Chychrun.

Sportsnets Mark Spector and The Athletics Daniel Nugent-Bowman both reported that the Oilers may not be very active in talks.

To be honest, this is a mistake and could be a missed opportunity for the Oilers. I quite like Philp Broberg as a prospect and think as a good defender of the second pairing he has a solid ceiling later on. However, we do not know whether this is even possible for Broberg as an interested party.

I always think of the episode of Family Guy where Peter has the option of either getting a boat or a mystery box. The boat is Jakob Chychrun. The mystery box is Philip Broberg.

The Vancouver Canucks have parted ways with new analyst Rachel Doerrie.

Hired last offseason, it was reported a few weeks ago that she would be taking on a role on the Canucks coaching staff in addition to her analysis work.

Here are some of our colleagues Canuck’s Army wrote:

Doerrie was hired by President Jim Rutherford in late January 2022 to join the club’s analytics department, but worked from her home in Toronto before moving to Vancouver in early September.

Just days before training camp in Whistler, Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau brought up Doerrie’s name and his new role on his coaching staff while speaking to reporters ahead of the team’s annual Jake Milford Charity Invitational Golf Tournament at Northview Golf and Country Club in Surrey.

Asked about his meetings with his new coaching staff over the past few weeks, Boudreau mentioned new video coach Dylan Crawford and then Doerrie, whom he identified as Crawford’s assistant.

The Montreal Canadiens are waiting to see if forward Josh Anderson develops keen senses or the ability to shoot webs after appearing to have been bitten by a spider.

He missed time during training camp but did skate Friday in Brossard, Que. with the team.

That’s weird.

Apparently the Toronto Maple Leafs are considering using Mitch Marner in defense? Yes, you read it right.

“There might be occasions in games where we might want to give him a look on defense,” said Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe as transcribed by TSN. “Whether we’re trying to score or playing from behind or whatever the case may be. We will continue to look at that in pre-season and decide from there how to use it.”

Marner appeared to have taken on reps alongside defenseman Morgan Rielly in practice this week, and TSN reported that William Nylander has taken on reps on offense alongside Auston Matthews and Michael Bunting.
