News update from Monday
Bryan and I will be back tonight for our first of many shows together on video. We’ll be talking Raw, answering questions and going over the latest news.
Tonight’s Raw comes from Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center. Raw has gone on a two-show streak with 1.8 million viewers in a row against the NFL. Tonight’s game is Chicago Bears vs. New England Patriots. They were very lucky because they could have faced two baseball games, but Houston and the New York Yankees both won their championships yesterday and are out until they face each other in the World Series. The series begins on Friday night (moved from Smackdown to FS 1). Game three of the World Series is against Raw next week, game four against NXT next week, game five against AEW next week if necessary, and game six against the 11/4 Smackdown if necessary.
Raw has announced Bianca Belair vs. Bayley in a non-title match and Finn Balor vs. Karl Anderson in a match that actually means more to Japan than the two guys who were original Bullet Club members.
Jon Moxley vs. Penta was added to Dynamite on Wednesday for the title. That’s notable because it wasn’t announced on Friday’s show or there were any angles along those lines. It just sounds like Tony Khan added a title match in hopes of boosting ratings. Penta didn’t get any singles wins and in the final trio title match on Wednesday, it was Fenix who got the pin, not Penta. Khan’s booking usually builds people for title matches, so this is a rarity in title matches where a build doesn’t come out of thin air. But on paper it bolsters the show with Bryan Danielson vs Sammy Guevara looking strong, Chris Jericho & Daniel Garcia vs Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta seemingly building ROH & Pure title fights, Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland vs FTR , leading to winners vs. The Acclaimed and Jamie Hayter vs. Riho, which will likely lead to Toni Storm vs. Hayter.
Bellator announced that it is working with Rizin on a New Year’s Eve show at Saitama Super Arena featuring Patricio Pitbull Freire’s third match against AJ McKee for the featherweight title and Kyoji Horiguchi against Juan Archuleta. There will be a press conference in Tokyo at Roppongi Hills Arena on Wednesday to announce the card and maybe more fights.
CJ Perry (Lana) will be part of The Surreal Lief, which airs tonight at 9 p.m. on VH-1. Also joining the cast for this season are Dennis Rodman, August Alsina, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles, Manny MIJA, Stormy Daniels and Tamar Braxton.
Xavier Woods will be a contestant on Sunday’s Wheel of Fortune show on ABC.
Liv Morgan’s appearance on Chucky is Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on USA. They’ll probably push that on Raw tonight.
Tickets for AEW’s return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles officially go on sale Friday. Advance sales take place on either Wednesday or Thursday. They sold out right away last time, but I don’t think anyone is expecting that this time.
Tomorrow’s Vice Tales from the Territories covers Florida with Brian Blair, Steve Keirn, Bob Roop and Kevin Sullivan.

BYB announced today that Dada 5000 (Dhafir Harris), part of that infamous wreck of a fight with Kimbo Slice in 2016, years ago, will fight at his November 19 show. Don’t believe it, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation ended the fight on the grounds that Dada was still suspended from that fight in Texas. Dada suffered two heart attacks and fell down twice in this fight, as well as kidney failure. Theoretically, he should not be able to fight in any commission state.
Taya Valkyrie vs. Trish Adora for the Women’s Featherweight title was added to the MLW show on 10/30. added in Philly.
