D23 2022 is home to the first-ever Disney & Marvel Games Showcase, and the show gave us a glimpse into the future of Disney and Marvel games from studios around the world. From Amy Hennig’s new Marvel game starring Captain America and Black Panther, to a new look at Marvel’s Midnight Suns, to a new 2D platformer from Mickey and Friends and Tron: Identity, there was something for everyone.

There were many announcements on the show and we’ve compiled each one below to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

The new game from Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media with Marvel is a story of Captain America and Black Panther set in World War II

Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media have announced that their upcoming ensemble narrative-adventure game with Marvel Entertainment will be about Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. During the story, players will travel to Paris, Wakanda, and possibly more locations.

While the game is currently untitled, it promises four playable heroes – “a young Steve Rogers, aka Captain America; Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones, a US soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, leader of the fledgling Wakandan spy network.”

Marvel’s Midnight Suns gets a new release date, Switch version TBD

After an indefinite delay, Marvel’s Midnight Suns now has a new release date of December 2nd, 2022 for new generation consoles and PC. Unfortunately, the Switch version doesn’t have a date yet. Alongside the release date news, it was announced that Marvel’s Midnight Suns will receive prequel shorts beginning October 31, consisting of “five short videos that provide a backstory into the formation of the young core of the Midnight Suns.”

Tron: Identity is a new visual novel adventure from Bithell games by Thomas Was Alone

Bithell Games, developer of Thomas Was Alone, has unveiled Tron: Identity, a new visual novel adventure that follows Query, a “detective program tasked with solving the mystery of an unprecedented crime”. While not much else has been revealed, we do know that it will release on PC and consoles in 2023.

New co-op Mickey Mouse and Friends game, Illusion Island, announced exclusively for Nintendo Switch

Disney Illusion Island is a new 2D platformer starring Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch in 2023. The art style is similar to recent Mickey Mouse shorts, and the story will see Mickey and friends on a quest to “explore the mysterious islands of Monoth and recover three mystical books in order to save the world from catastrophe.” Each character also seems to have their own unique abilities, such as Donald’s ability to swim and Goofy’s ability to use a giant spice bottle. Oh, and it supports online and local split-screen co-op.

Marvel World of Heroes, a new Marvel AR game, has been announced by Pokemon GO developer Niantic

Pokemon GO developer Niantic has announced that it has partnered with Marvel Entertainment to create Marvel World of Heroes, an AR game that will allow fans to create their own superhero and interact with their favorite Marvel characters in the real world together. Those interested can pre-register now at marvelworldofheroes.com ahead of its global mobile launch in 2023.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora gets a quick gameplay overview

While it was just a quick look, the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase provided fans with a quick gameplay overview of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Marvel Snap, the upcoming free-to-play trading card game, is getting a global release date

Marvel Snap, the upcoming free-to-play trading card game set in the Marvel Universe, will officially launch worldwide on mobile and PC on October 18, 2022. Players can now pre-register for Marvel Snap, and it promises over 150 Marvel heroes and villains and a shorter average game time than other games in the genre to get players right into the action.

Return to Monkey Island is getting a new trailer ahead of the Talk Like a Pirate Day release date

Return to Monkey Island takes place on September 19, aka Talk Like a Pirate Day, and the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase gave fans a brand new look at the highly anticipated title.

Aliens: Dark Descent first look gameplay trailer revealed

Officially announced at Summer Game Fest Showcase 2022, Aliens: Dark Descent is a squad-based top-down shooter that will see a team of Space Marines take on hordes of Xenomorphs. The Disney and Marvel Showcase revealed a first look at gameplay and revealed a bit more about how the game will be played when it releases on PC and consoles in 2023.

Gargoyles Remastered brings the classic 90’s platformer to modern consoles and PC

Loosely based on the storyline of the Disney animated series of the same name, the 90’s platformer classic Gargoyles returns to modern consoles and PC with updated graphics and controls. First released on Sega Genesis in 1995, Gargoyles was one of composer Michael Giacchino’s earlier projects.

Disney Dreamlight Valley, the life simulation game that allows you to live in a world with your favorite Disney and Pixar characters and that recently launched in Early Access, will soon add a new Toy Story realm featuring Woody, Buzz Lightyear, new brings with it quests and more.

Mobile MMORPG shooter Avatar: Reckoning gets a first look trailer

While many Avatar fans are waiting for Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, they should also be aware that there is also a mobile MMORPG shooter called Avatar: Reckoning that will be released in the near future. This mobile title allows you to customize your own avatar and explore Pandora in “multiple game modes”.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga gets a new Galactic Edition and new characters

Marvel Strike Force adds Red Hulk

Marvel Strike Force, the squad-based mobile RPG, will add Red Hulk on September 13, and players can “recruit this fiery brute as the newest horseman of the War of the Apocalypse.”
