“There’s the design process, then sourcing all the materials, and then production,” Jennings said. “When we handled the first 1.0 drop of Reverse Retro Jerseys, we already started thinking about the iterations for that drop.”

The project is too big to produce annually, but Jennings wanted fans to have another reverse retro jersey collection fast. All kits took 18 to 24 months to make and Jennings credits adidas’ design team for rushing the process.

“During this process, some jerseys arrive one day and others the next, and it feels like you’re a kid on vacation when you rip open the boxes.”

Now all kits are completed and ready to be worn by fans and players alike.

The adidas Reverse Retro ADIZERO Authentic Jerseys for all 32 NHL® teams will be available November 15 for $190-$240 in the US and $210-$260 in Canada exclusively at adidas.com, adidas.ca, NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca and Team Stores, with greater availability at additional retailers beginning November 20.

“It’s really emotional,” Jennings said. “It’s been a long process, but when we see the reactions from the fans, that’s the most rewarding part of the job.”

Here’s a look at what went into each team’s design:

Anaheim Ducks: The signature 1993 asymmetric body stripe, chevron sleeve stripes, and tri-color player numbers are an ode to the Ducks’ season one uniform, remixed with the team’s modern color scheme.

Arizona Coyotes: The Coyotes are the first team to ever wear a jersey in the earth-toned color of Siena. Inspired by the Coyotes’ third uniform from 1998-2003, this jersey depicts a desert and includes the Coyotes’ crescent moon logo as part of the landscape.

Boston Bruins: Inspired by the Bruins’ 1995 third jersey, which was originally gold, the protagonist of this bright white jersey is the Bruin himself. According to legend, the image of the Bruin comes from a painting of a bear hanging on a team leader’s wall and therefore resembles it more of a painted than a digital image.

buffalo saber: The Sabers uniform combines the style of the 1996 logo with the colors of today. The body stripes and the horn-shaped contour on the upper arm complement the middle crest, the bison/buffalo.

Calgary Flames: The Flames crest is placed on a thick, diagonally striped base in this jersey, which is an ode to Calgary’s 1995 jersey. The player’s name and number are in italics to match the forward movement of the Flames “C” crest.

Carolina Hurricanes: The team’s current away kit is redesigned in a bold red for the first time in franchise history. There are two sets of hurricane warning flags on the shoulders and the “CANES” stair step crest in the center to add to the flag detail.

Chicago Blackhawks: The 1983 Chicago uniform takes a literal interpretation of “reverse retro”. The black and red colors are inverted with the wording “CHICAGO” inspired by the Winter Classic 2019 crest across the chest.

Colorado Avalanche: Stanley Cup winners honor their first and inaugural Stanley Cup championships by paying tribute to their state. The center “C” crest is derived from the state flag and the angled stripes mimic the Rocky Mountains.

Columbus Blue Jackets: A black body accented with navy stripes down the sleeves honors the original Blue Jackets third kit and ties in with the team’s current third kit in light blue. The original third jersey was the first rendition of the current Blue Jackets logo, inspired by the Ohio State flag.

Dallas Stars: The Stars modernize the team’s first season kit with its current color palette. The “STARS” word and logo merge into one as the shoulder patches feature images of the state of Texas with a “D” marking the location of Dallas.

Detroit Red Wings: New to the Red Wings uniform is a black trim accent along the jersey, pants, socks, gloves and helmet for a seamless look. This jersey honors Detroit’s 1991 NHL 75th Anniversary jersey with a “DETROIT” lettering inspired by the 1920 Detroit Cougars jersey.

Edmonton Oiler: The Oilers’ premier third jersey adopts a modern orange and navy twist. Front and center is a drop of oil surrounded by dynamic gearing, with each stud hub representing one of the team’s five Stanley Cup championships.

Florida Panther: Once on the shoulder of the 1998 jersey, the iconic sun, palm tree and stick logo has been placed at the center of the 2022 Panthers jersey. Derived from the team’s 2009 third kit, the light blue colorway combines with the current base colors of navy, yellow and red.

Kings of Los Angeles: The Kings honor the 1982 jersey that celebrates one of the greatest NHL comebacks of all time, the “Miracle of Manchester”. The white jersey has purple and gold detailing with a royal crown crest sewn with raised jewels and satin stitch embroidery.

Minnesota Wilderness: The colors of the 1978 North Stars jersey meet the modern Wild crest in Minnesota’s new jersey, with the crest’s star and trees featuring raised dimensional treatments.

Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens’ uniform from 1979, when the team won their 22nd Stanley Cup title, is brought to life in a new shade of light blue inspired by the colors of the city of Montreal.

Nashville Predators: This uniform will feature Predators gold from head to toe, including the helmet, trousers and socks, complemented by navy blue and silver accents. The jersey brings back the fanged Pred head crest from the team’s original 2001 third jersey.

New Jersey Devil: Paying homage to the team’s past as the Colorado Rockies and future as the New Jersey Devils, the latest sweater combines the first Devils jersey from 1982 with earlier Rockies colors.

New York Islanders: The Islanders kick off their 50th season with an ode to their 1995 uniform. The Fisherman returns on the center crest with raised embroidery details of the Fisherman hat, beard and hands with teal accents in the waves. The head-to-toe navy color scheme is complemented by orange and white angled trim.

New York Rangers: The Lady Liberty jersey returns in Rangers’ current color palette. The shoulder patches and crest tie in with the original jersey, while white and silver detailing creates a lustrous look around the historic New York statue.

Ottawa Senators: Featuring the 2006 Centurion main logo on the shoulder patches and the current main logo on the center crest, the Senators jersey fuses eras to celebrate the uniform of their historic 2006-07 run to the Stanley Cup Finals. The original version of this kit was the team’s first third kit in 1997 to feature less curved stripes and trim.

Philadelphia Flyer: Reminiscent of their years as repeat cup winners (1973–74, 1974–75), the Flyers jersey is almost entirely white and black with orange accents. It features a thin black outline surrounding the crest, matching that worn in 1974.

Pittsburgh penguins: The streamlined Penguins jersey worn by Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr for most of their runs together in the 1990s reappears with additional gold and white stripe accents on the sleeve. The penguin crest has dimensional embroidery that highlights the shadow of the penguin head and wings.

Sharks of San Jose: Typography and colors of the 1974 California Golden Seals, the Bay Area’s premier NHL team, merge with a new “Sharks” wordmark.

Seattle Octopus: In their second season, the Kraken highlight the team’s sea green color in the main part of the shirt. Below, the “S” crest is plunged into the navy striped sea, where the red eye of the octopus peeks just above the surface.

St. Louis Blues: The Blues honor their inaugural jersey, launched in 1966, which was a prototype worn by the club’s owner a year before the team hit the ice. The combination of gold and blue is inspired by the Blues’ third kit and other vintage kits, including the 2017 and 2022 Winter Classic kits.

Tampa Bay Blitz: This jersey features rain, sea and lightning bolts sublimated in full size graphics across the jersey, with lightning bolts down the side of the shorts. It pays homage to their original 1997 Storm third kit with an electric-style font.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Honoring their 1961-62 Stanley Cup-winning jersey, the Maple Leafs crest is recreated with vintage single stitching. A new, narrow shoulder yoke with a pointed seam construction was specially developed to match the original sweater.

Vancouver Canucks: Inspired by the Canucks’ 1962 uniform of the former Western Hockey League, the reverse retro jersey features a replica of the 1960s icon Johnny Canuck on the center crest. Matching the original jersey, player numbers appear only on the left chest and right shoulder.

Vegas Golden Knights: The Golden Knights created a jersey whose design envisions what a Golden Knights third jersey might have looked like in 1995. It features a diagonal wordmark “VEGAS” and glittery font inspired by vintage hotel signs on the Las Vegas Strip.

Washington Capitals: The Screaming Eagle makes a comeback against an all-black colorway in the new Capitals jersey. Asymmetric stripes, unconventional typeface, and new blue and copper colors were influenced by the 2005 uniform.

Winnipeg Jets: The Jets drop the red in their new kit, highlighting royal blue and featuring a bright white color base. The 2022 Reverse Retro jersey design was inspired by the jersey from 1990, the inaugural year of the uniform Teemu Selanne wore when he broke the rookie goalscoring record in 1992-93.
