God of War Ragnarok is a bigger – and arguably better – game than its 2018 predecessor, and one way to gauge its greatness is through the crafting menu. There’s still a lot more to do in that regard, with more customization options, more resources to find, and more builds to focus on as you try to customize Kratos’ kit to suit your preferred playstyle. It is a lot ofso we made this craft guide to help you understand it as quickly as possible – this should give you more time for all that chopping and slapping, arguing with your son, etc. Here are our crafting tips for Ragnarok.
Consider this guide light gameplay spoilers and even lighter story spoilers.
Yes, you can use transmog
One of the features that players like best in a game where your armor is constantly changing is transmogrification – a fancy word for making your gear look like other gear while retaining the benefits of the original gear. With Kratos, you might like his bare shoulders but want the benefits of a highly defendable armor set, which usually comes in a style that covers his entire torso in shiny metal. With the ability to transmog, you can look in one direction but play in another. Here’s how to transmog your gear in God of War Ragnarok.
It’s easy to make money selling old armor
You can take an armor from the early game, upgrade it repeatedly, and never take it off. That’s a viable way to play Ragnarok. However, if you change things up, you’ll end up with Disused Armor, which is great to sell to Brok and Sindri. They buy armor and other crafted items that you no longer need for a decent chunk of Hacksilver, so don’t let that stuff rust in your inventory. Type it like an old cell phone.
Think armor sets to get stacked buffs
RPG fans should be familiar with this. Her armor consists of three parts: chest, wrist and belt. It’s worth matching these with the same set as you stack buffs. For example, in my playthrough, I preferred armor that allowed me to do more damage to stunned enemies – which goes well with Atreus’ arrows. While just one of those armor pieces would have given me 20% bonus damage for wearing the full set, Kratos actually did 40% damage to stunned enemies. Matching is more than just fashion.
Muspelheim holds the key to many rare resources
You will find half of the Muspelheim Seed early in your adventure, and you will be told that you need the other half to unlock the realm. We’ve got a guide on where to find both Muspelheim seeds, but here’s why you’ll want it: Muspelheim is home to The Crucible, a battle arena that distributes rare and unique resources for your achievements. Be sure to spend some time there if you want to win the Platinum Trophy.
Buy resources in bulk from Brok and Sindri
Sometimes you just need a few more items from a certain category. In such cases, make sure Brok and Sindri don’t sell it in bulk in their forge. Sure, you might have to go out and take it off a slain monster or something, but the pair’s store inventory evolves as the game progresses, so it’s possible they have what you’re looking for and are ready, to sell it as a package deal to you.
Hit debris while canoeing or sledding to pick them up quickly
Normally, crashing into things in a boat or a sled would mean you’re having a bad time, but Kratos and company can take it. Indeed, she should Take it. Whether you’re in the water or sledding through the realms deep into Fimbulwinter, there’s plenty of debris to crash into, and that will net you small reserves of Hacksilver and resources. It’s not much on its own, but like keeping a change box on your fridge it all adds up.
Frozen Flame and Chaos Flame are key, but hard to find
Two of the most important resources are Frozen Flame and Chaos Flame, which upgrade your ax and blades respectively. You’ll probably realize their importance early on, and that might make you want to farm them. Unfortunately, you can’t actually farm them, as we explained in our Frozen Flame and Chaos Flame guide. In the post-game, you will be able to find some fragments of these items, which together give you more upgrades, e.g. B. if you complete all Draugr holes, but beyond that you will get these items at certain times.
