vision questa new Disney+ Original Series centered on Paul Bettany’s vision is officially in the works at Marvel Studios.
According to an initial report by industry insider Jeff Sneider meeting has confirmed that a new WandaVision In fact, a vision-focused spin-off is in development, and a writers’ room is expected to open next week. Corresponding meetingMarvel Studios vision quest “Will be about The Vision (Bettany) trying to regain his memory and humanity.” Additionally, there is a “possibility” that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch will also appear on the show following her apparent (but unlikely) death becomes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As the upcoming Kathryn Hahn-led WandaVision spin off Agatha: Circle of Chaos, vision quest is cared for by WandaVision Creator, Writer and Executive Producer Jac Schaeffer. While vision quest is in early development and currently has no official premiere window, Circle of Chaos (originally titled Agatha: House of Harkness) is expected to premiere in either late 2023 or early 2024 as part of the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios vision quest does not derive its name from the 1985 sports film starring Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino, but from 1989 West Coast Avengers Vision Quest story arc. In the Marvel Comics storyline, Vision was dismantled, his artificial skin turned white, and he lost the ability to feel emotions, crumbling his romance with Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. MCU fans have already seen a version of these events in the last part of WandaVision.
Vision returns to the MCU
Bettany’s version of Vision died in the 2018 film through Josh Brolin’s Thanos Avengers: Infinity War. However, Bettany later reprized the role in the 2021 series of Disney+ WandaVision, in which Wanda and Vision began living a supposedly happy, sitcom-esque family life in the town of Westview. That said, it was eventually revealed that this life and version of Vision were actually the inventions of a “Hex” Wanda created out of grief.
Meanwhile, SWORD was experimenting with what was left of the real Vision – that is, the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division. Acting SWORD director Tyler Hayward used Wanda’s powers to activate the reconstructed vision, whose memories had been erased, with his skin and clothing turning a pale white (similar to that in West Coast Avengers‘ Storyline “Vision Quest”).
While searching for Wanda, White Vision was intercepted by Hex Vision, with the two engaging in a fight before starting a philosophical discussion about the “Ship of Theseus” paradox. Hex Vision eventually restored White Vision’s memories, with the latter departing to parts unknown to process the information granted to him. In this sense, meeting reported that the potential of Marvel Studios vision quest The spin-off is unofficially referred to as “The White Vision Project” by those involved.
Remarkably, as recently as April, Bettany confirmed he would be playing Vision again in the MCU. “[A]t end WandaVision“You see Vision fly away, and that’s a loose end,” he said. “And [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige is a man who doesn’t really allow open ends. So I assume that at some point I’ll change into my tights and cape for another outing, but I don’t know when that might be.
