Drag Race UK Star Copper Topp has responded to what she described as “very, very harsh” criticism from the judges following her exit from the reality competition show.
Earlier this week, Copper Topp became the third drag queen eliminated from season four of Drag Race UK after Just May and then Starlet both left the series. Digital Spy spoke to Copper Topp after her departure from the show, and the drag queen opened up about the criticism she received from RuPaul and fellow judges Michelle Visage and Alan Carr.
“I’d tell them, ‘Isn’t there anything about my drag that you liked? I thought they were very, very tough on the catwalk. Very, very hard. But you know it is what it is. It was great to be there. You look beautiful in real life. Bloody hell. Honestly, it’s amazing. “

She continued, “But I would have loved to have stayed because acting and comedy is what I do and when I can’t handle those challenges it’s like ‘Ugh’. But – well, well.”
Copper Topp said she felt she received particularly harsh feedback for her runway for the first episode.
“The thing is, it was like, ‘Ru are you? And tell us this story.’ “I know Rosé did it in the US season and a few other people wrote the lyrics on their costumes. I know of course it’s not for everyone. It’s orange and it’s very compelling. That’s what I wanted to do be it.”

Copper Topp continued, “I wanted to tell the story of why Copper Topp came into existence. And that is the reason. It was made by a beautiful designer named Marmalade who I love so much and she also did my neon look. But it’s such a huge credit to her: I think she’s fabulous.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK airs on BBC Three in the UK and streams on WOW Presents Plus in the US.
