BOSTON– Taylor Hall scored a power play goal with 10.1 seconds left to give the Boston Bruins a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild at the TD Garden on Saturday.
Hall, who also had two assists, won it off a pass on a one-timer from low in the right circle David Pastrnak.
“I thought that was our best game of the year, how we want to play with and without the puck,” said Bruins coach Jim Montgomery. “Unfortunately, things don’t always go your way, but I like the way we deal with adversity and just move forward.”

The Wild then went into overtime on penalties Matt Dumba was called to hold with a 38 second lead in the third period. Hall’s Gate was set up by Kirill Kapritsov‘s trip penalty at 2:57 of overtime.
“I was just trying to make the next save, keep us in the game, and it felt like a long time 4-on-3 in our zone there in OT,” Fleury said. “It [stinks], 10 seconds to go and I went down hard in front and blocked shots. Yes, it’s hard, so hard, to lose like that.”
Pastrnak had a goal and an assist, and Linus Ullmark made 24 saves for Boston (5-1-0), who is 4-0-0 at home this season.
Zdeno Chara, who signed a one-day contract and left the Bruins on September 20, was honored with the celebratory puck drop in a pregame ceremony.
“I would know [Chara] a long time ago”, Bruins forward Nick Foligno said. “My freshman year (with the Ottawa Senators) he was still in camp, so I got to know him. He’s a guy I just have so much respect for. He came here and completely changed the culture.”
Jared Spurgeon had a goal and an assist, and Marc Andre Fleury made 38 saves for Minnesota (1-3-1). Mats Zucarello had two assists to extend his season-opening points streak to five games (four goals, six assists).
“We fought, we fought back,” said Wild coach Dean Evason. “Very resilient again and obviously we just didn’t get the result.”
Brandon Duhaime brought the Wilden after 1:55 of the first third with 1:0 lead. When killing Joel Ericsson Ek‘s slash penalty, Connor Dewar kicked the puck free in the neutral zone and sent it to Duhaime, who defeated Ullmark with the gloved side in a short breakaway.

Foligno equalized at 3:12 with a one-timer to make it 1-1 before Pastrnak gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead at 12:45.
Hampus Lindholm then made it 3-1 at 6:41 of the second period when he collected his own blocked shot from the point and hit from the left circle.
“I think there are a lot of positive things to see, so I think we’re pretty happy,” said Pastrnak. “We just have to do the same thing over and over again.”
Matt Boldy cut it to 3-2 at 15:58, redirecting Zuccarello’s shot from the right circle onto the power play.
Boldy appeared to score again with man advantage at 5:45 of game three, but the call was rescinded after a video review revealed the puck hit the net with a direct kicking motion.
“We know we want to keep scoring [the power play] every time and it [stinks] don’t get one for it [Fleury]’ Boldy said. “Turned on its head for everyone else.”
Spurgeon tied it 3-3 at 15:29 of the third.
“I’m happy that we won,” said Ullmark. “It doesn’t matter whether we do it after 60, 65, 62 1/2 or 64 minutes. The feeling afterwards when you win is still the same.”
REMARKS: Fleury played his 943rd game and ranked sixth among goalies in NHL history with Curtis Joseph. … Pastrnak scored his 40th home goal at the start of the 2020/21 season (66 games). Only Austin Matthews the Toronto Maple Leafs (57 in 64 games), Kaprizov (48 in 72 games), and Connor McDavid the Edmonton Oilers (46 in 72 games) have more in this range.
