Years after the last Chrysler 300 SRT8 completed its production run, Stellantis decided the public needed another fire-breathing V8-powered version of Chrysler’s beloved sedan. However, instead of stopping at the optional 5.7-liter Hemi V8 in the previous 300s, the brand got bigger and badder for their swan song sedan. Here’s what you should know about the new Chrysler 300C and its mighty V8.
Are they still making a 300C?
Chrysler still makes a 300, but only recently did they announce the return of the 300C. In addition, the latest variants look very similar to the older models; Many fans find them outdated due to this fact. After all, Chrysler has been producing its flagship affordable luxury sedan for 18 years. Alongside the Dodge Charger, it was an integral part of the modern American sedan landscape.
Will the Chrysler 300C get a redesign in 2023?
The reborn 2023 Chrysler 300C looks very similar to the latest 2022 Chrysler 300, save for a few differences. The new 300C, for example, features carbon fiber accents, bright red Brembo brake calipers, black tailpipes and its own tri-color badge, a nod to the 300’s heritage. However, at first glance or from a distance it bears a strong resemblance to a 300S.
Which engine is in the new Chrysler 300C 2023?
Like Dodge’s campaign to ship the muscle-bound Challenger and Charger, Stellantis and Chrysler are making this next model year a big one. The 2023 Chrysler 300C is equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine. It’s also more powerful than the 6.4-liter V8s found in the long-discontinued 300 SRT8s from 2014 and earlier. According to TrueCar, these later SRT8 models offer 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
However, the 2023 300C squeezes 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque from its 6.4-liter powerplant. The result of that extra power is a chic Chrysler sedan that can sprint to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Also, Stellantis says the V8 300C will smash a quarter mile in just 12.4 seconds en route to a top speed of 160 mph. Not bad for a big, heavy, non-supercharged sedan.
Is that the last 300?
The engine is not only worthy of celebration; It’s a commemorative train. The new 2023 Chrysler 300C will be the last car of its kind for the model namesake. It’s a bittersweet affair; The original 300 debuted in 1955 and marked a nearly 70-year span on and off. Of course, the 300 most drivers associate with is the 2005 and newer vehicle.
However, after an 18-year run, Chrysler is discontinuing the modern 300. Still, we could see the return of the 300 badge in a hybrid or electric platform like Dodge’s latest electric muscle car concept, the Charger Daytona SRT EV.
How expensive is the new 300C?
The new Chrysler 300C will be limited to 2,000 units, making it a collectable swan song for the model’s recent lineage. Additionally, Car and Driver says the new V8-powered sedan will start at $56,595. That might seem like an attractive price, but given the car’s importance to the Chrysler brand and the limited numbers it will likely sell well above its starting price and appreciate in value.
Still, between the last 300C and the last call models Dodge Chargers and Challengers, Stellantis is determined to end the internal combustion engine (ICE) era of their cars. These cars will not only be tire-eating rides, but also collectible memorabilia. Scroll down to the article below to learn more about the Mopar muscle!
