John Aniston, a veteran soap opera star known for his work on days of our livesHe has died, his daughter Jennifer Aniston announced on Monday morning. He was 89.

According to an Instagram post, he died on November 11.

“You were one of the most beautiful people I have ever known,” Jennifer wrote.

“I am so grateful that you ascended to heaven in peace – and without pain. And on 11.11. not less! You always had perfect timing. That number will mean even more to me now forever.”

According to CNN, Aniston has appeared in nearly 3,000 episodes of days of our lives. His soap opera career began in 1970 when he portrayed a character named Eric Richards. He returned to the cast in 1985 as Victor Kiriakis, a now-legendary crime boss.

In 1986 he won two Soap Opera Digest Awards, for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role and Outstanding Villain in a Daytime Series.

Last year he received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Although he didn’t appear at the Emmys, Jennifer made a virtual appearance to celebrate her father’s career.

“This is really a special moment for me,” Jennifer said. “It’s an opportunity, not just that pay tribute to a true icon in the world of daytime television, but it’s also an opportunity to recognize the lifelong achievements of a great and respected actor who also happens to be my father.”

“For over 30 years, his dedication to this show has earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow cast members, deep friendships, and delighted millions of fans around the world,” she added. “His career is literally the definition of a lifetime achievement.”

Aniston’s other acting credits included Star Trek: Voyager, Gilmore Girls, The western wingand mad Menamong other.

Aniston was born on the Greek island of Crete but moved to Pennsylvania with his family when he was a child. He has a bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Pennsylvania State University and served as an intelligence officer in the US Navy.

Along with Jennifer, Aniston is survived by son Alex Aniston and wife Sherry Rooney. His first wife Nancy Dow – Jennifer’s mother – died in 2016.

No cause of death has been released at this time.
