As much as I hate to admit it, winter is coming.
Two years ago, after a particularly cold November walk with my dog, I rushed home and made a purchase that would change my winter life forever. Enter Everlane’s ReNew Long Buffer.
This jacket has changed the way I look at winter – and luckily Everlane is currently running a rare sale with 30% off all sweaters and outerwear. Check out my review of my favorite puffer below, available until November 13th at 11:59pm PST.

The details
Featuring oversized buttoned flap pockets and a drawstring hood, this water-repellent parka is made from Everlane technical 100% recycled fabric and filled with 100% recycled high-performance Primaloft insulation to keep you warm in any inclement weather.
Made from 60 recycled plastic bottles, this jacket hits just above the knee for full coverage – essential for Canadian winters. If you’re not a big fan of the straight fit, this puffer has a hidden drawstring waist to give a flattering cinch.
The oversized buttoned flap pockets offer both style and function, but this jacket’s best hidden feature is the hidden angled pockets behind the flap pockets, which are fleece lined to keep you warm and cozy.

First impressions
When I first tried this jacket on, I was surprised by the sheer weight. This definitely doesn’t detract from my love of the jacket, but it’s worth noting for anyone looking for something lighter. Wearing the coat in my (heated) apartment proved that this jacket definitely warms. I was overheating within minutes, but I knew it would be the perfect solution for my cold-sucker.
When it comes to winter outerwear, every detail counts – and Everlane really has thought of everything. Whether it’s the hidden tight cuffs at the wrists or the fleece pockets, this puffer will ensure your teeth never chatter from the winter chill again.
As someone who stands at 5′, I’m often wary of long jackets because they tend to drown me out and never fit properly. I don’t know what magic was used to create this jacket, but despite my small stature, this jacket still works. Although it’s definitely long on me, I feel perfectly wrapped in warmth all winter and find I can still move freely even though the jacket hits squarely on my knee.
Sizing wise, I went down as recommended in the reviews, but I wish I’d stayed my usual size. Despite the oversized nature of this down jacket, the construction is quite structured due to a warming inner layer and I find it difficult to wear heavier sweaters under this jacket. However, this puffer jacket is so warm that I don’t need my heaviest, warmest sweaters when I’m wearing it – and I live in the very cold Midwest.

‘My favorite winter jacket!’
With more than 1,300 reviews and a 4.5 star rating, it turns out I’m not the only one who loves this jacket thanks to its thoughtful details and cold protection.
“My favorite winter jacket! I’m usually size M and M fits perfectly (I like roomy/oversized for layering and she didn’t choke on me). It’s long enough to cover my butt and keep my thighs warm,” shares one shopper.
“I love the hidden cuffs to keep the breeze in, the front pockets and hidden pockets behind, and the hidden drawstring waist. Better than any winter jacket I’ve ever owned!”
“This jacket is extremely comfortable and very warm. I live in a very cold area and this makes me super comfortable walking outside in freezing temperatures,” adds another.
“I feel very constricted when I put it on. It’s also very easy to clean, which is important in winter when everything is covered in road salt. I have recommended this coat to everyone!”
“This is a classic that I will wear for years”
The jacket is not only easy to care for, but also incredibly stylish. While you can go smaller in fit, reviews recommend staying at your true size if you want to add more winter layers.
“I hike every morning in very cold mountain air. I needed a coat that would fit my needs and this one hit the spot. Lots of excellent detailing in the quality of the zip, two pockets and fitted cuffs,” wrote one shopper.
“Although many reviewers said the coat runs very large, I wanted plenty of room for layering and don’t like a tight fit when hiking, so I bought my usual size and am happy with it.”
“I love this chic coat – what can I say? He is perfect. Incredible quality, love the top and side access pockets and the warm fleece lining,” adds another.
“The little one runs normal, is comfortable with a thin shirt or light sweater underneath and is incredibly warm. This is a classic that I will wear for years to come.”
