Another hero has been announced surveillance 2 and Blizzard has provided more information on the game’s Season One Battle Pass.

The new hero Kiriko will arrive alongside the game at release. As the newest support hero, the character can teleport through walls to protect teammates with a healing Ofuda. Kiriko can also charge at enemies to take them out with a kunai.

Regarding the Season One Battle Pass, Blizzard said it will “deliver more in one drop” than it has delivered since the original game released in 2016. This includes three new heroes, all of which will be available immediately to returning Overwatch players who log in during Season 1 or 2.

Overwatch 2 will feature a new seasonal model, meaning new content will be released every nine weeks. Each season offers new experiences and ways to play, and usually brings with it a new hero or map, rotating each season.

Each season will have a new Battle Pass, and each will have its own unique theme, up to 80+ unlockable tiers of cosmetics, and all hero balance changes will be made at the start of each season.

Loot boxes, as you know, disappear with Overwatch 2. But you can purchase anything you want through the in-game shop using the virtual currency called Overwatch Coins. The shop will feature cosmetic items for all players each week, and in Season 1 many will follow a cyberpunk theme. Future seasons will feature in-shop items with different themes.

The shop will also feature a “Just for you” section with personalized offers based on what you love to play and equip in the game, as well as rotating bundles. In our early seasons, this section will feature rotating bundles of items from the original Overwatch.

The Battle Pass is free for everyone, and you can upgrade to the Premium Battle Pass in the shop to unlock premium rewards. There will also be a free track.

Should a season feature a new hero, they can be earned through the free Battle Pass track at level 55. You will be instantly unlocked on the premium Battle Pass track. New heroes can also be purchased through the in-game shop.

In Season One, anyone who signs up to play will automatically receive Junker Queen and Sojourn. Those who own the original Overwatch will also receive Kiriko via their Founder’s Pack, which must be redeemed by logging in before the end of Season 2.

Unlockable free rewards in the Battle Pass are offered in 20 tiers spread across the 80+ tiers in total. These include epic skims, a weapon charm, souvenirs, a highlight intro, emotes, victory poses, name cards, sprays, player icons and more.

The Premium Battle Pass track offers 60 additional (80 total) stages to unlock, including the Mythic Tier skin and other premium cosmetic items. If the season includes a new hero, purchasing the Premium Battle Pass also grants instant access to that hero, in addition to a season-long Battle Pass experience boost and additional cosmetic rewards.

The Season One premium track gives new players instant access to Kiriko and includes over 60 cosmetics to unlock including five brand new Legendary skins, one Epic skin and the brand new Cyber Demon Genji Mythic skin. Mythic skins are a whole new level of skins, and specifically for Genji, feature layers that you can mix and match.

The Premium Battle Pass costs 1000 Overwatch Coins, which is equivalent to $10, and the coins can be purchased directly or earned by completing weekly challenges.

To progress through the Battle Pass, you do so by simply playing the game and completing daily and weekly challenges. Those who complete the Season’s Battle Pass can continue to advance through the Prestige Tiers.

In addition to the five new maps already announced, Season One will also introduce a new push map set in Portugal, Esperanca. All maps are available to everyone, and going forward a new map will generally be introduced every other season. Past limited-time game modes and new ones will be made available, and the Junkenstein event Wrath of the Bride awaits you in Season 1.

As for the future of the game, Blizzard already has new core game modes and a number of new maps in development, and one of the new modes will be introduced later in 2023. PvE will also be introduced in 2023.

Overwatch 2 will be free to play when it releases on October 4th and will feature cross-platform play with cross-progression.
