You can never have too many streaming platform options, right Canada? Especially those that are free to use.

A new free-to-watch streaming service is coming to the Great White North, offering 100+ unique, curated channels and over 20,000 hours of content.

Pluto TV launches nationwide on December 1st and includes a wide range of free programming such as Drama, Comedy, Lifestyle, Kids, Movies, 24/7 News and more.

Unlike other popular platforms, Pluto TV will be free and will trade in subscription-based model for ads. Essentially you don’t have to pay, but you do have to sit through ads – like in the good ol’ days of that thing called TV.

On Thursday, Pluto TV, in partnership with Paramount Global and Corus Entertainment Inc., announced that it is the world’s leading FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) service.

At launch, Pluto TV is not only free but also requires no registration. Canadian users can watch Pluto TV via web, Apple TV app, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Android TV, Chromecast, Samsung and LG devices, or mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play.

According to Pluto TV, Corus will be the advertising ambassador for what “sets to become one of the largest ad-supported premium streaming services in the country.” In addition, the platform will also offer a curated list of Corus Original library series, spanning a variety of genres.

I couldn’t be more excited to officially announce the launch date of Pluto TV in Canada. December 1,” says Olivier Jollet, EVP & International GM for Pluto TV at Paramount Global. “Our initial channel lineup further illustrates how we are working to combine Corus’ incredible offering of local content with Pluto TV’s global content to meet the tastes of Canadian audiences. I’m confident that Pluto TV will quickly become a new destination, both for fans of curated content and for customers and partners interested in investing in a new and unique streaming service after its launch.”

Right off the bat, Pluto TV Canada says it will offer a “wide range of exclusive channels featuring international and Canadian titles.”
