Splatoon 3 is getting its first-ever official patch update exactly a week after its launch, and Nintendo will focus more on fixing some performance issues.
Apart from the various bug fixes, the developers will also try to introduce changes to Splatfests and adjust the frequency of Tricolor Battle occurrences. It will now trigger slightly less frequently for defending teams.
As you ponder which Splatfest team to join, know that we’ll ALL be on Team Great Tunes thanks to Deep Cut’s latest Fins in the Air. Between Shiver’s sweeping vocals, Frye’s lively harmonies, and that scintillating intro, Musicology says it’s “direct fire.”

Splatoon 3 Update Version 1.1.1 Patch Notes
Changes to Splatfests
- Adjusted the frequency of occurrence of tricolor battles. From the defending team’s perspective, they are triggered slightly less frequently than before.
Changes to player controls
- Fixed an issue where it was possible to jump further than usual with a squid reel by giving a specific input while charging a squid wave.
- Fixed issues that occurred when playing for a long time without closing the software, such as B. Shots from the player’s main weapon not firing correctly.
- Fixed an issue where the player could move through the water surface or stand on the water when moving fast. For example, when performing a dodge roll with splat dualies.
Changes to multiplayer
- Fixed an issue where connection errors occurred at high frequency at the end of battles due to the connection environment.
- Fixed an issue with the Bloblobber where the collision detection of the third and fourth blobs of a single salvo became extremely small.
- Fixed an issue where money and experience were not awarded under certain circumstances when a battle ended prematurely due to lack of players.
- Fixed an issue where a player couldn’t cancel matchmaking in certain modes if there weren’t enough other players gathered. Matchmaking is now automatically canceled after a certain time has elapsed.
- Fixed an issue in Sturgeon Shipyard where it was possible to access the back of certain drawbridges.
Changes to the salmon run
- Fixed an issue where connection errors occurred at high frequency at the end of jobs due to the connection environment.
- Fixed an issue with Mudmouth Eruption events where Mudmouths would move in an unintended way.
- Fixed an issue that resulted in some players with identical titles being considered “Rank Supporters” and not receiving rank points.
- Fixed an issue where continuously damaging a submerged Maws with certain special weapons would cause the game to crash.
- Fixed an issue that resulted in players getting trapped in the stage terrain.
- Fixed an issue where at the end of the battle, the amount of Grizzco Points earned would appear as less than the amount actually added to save data, causing cases where the player was unable to collect rewards.
- Fixed an issue where the messages at the start of wave 3 could change depending on whether or not a Chinook Salmon spawned.
Switch to story mode
- Fixed an issue where, after completing the last stage, a communication error occurred in the middle of a certain scene and the player returned to the field.
- The post-clear cutscenes can be viewed by completing the last stage again.
- In cases where this error has occurred, the last stage is treated as cleared and the stage can be skipped when trying again from the pause menu.
Other changes
- Fixed an issue when launching the game for the first time where the game could get stuck and not advance from the black screen to the screen where yellow and blue ink mixed.
- Fixed an issue with downloading a battle replay that occasionally resulted in the game not progressing.
- Fixed an issue where the game would crash when updating the schedule while trying to join a friend.
- Fixed a rare issue where the game would crash while the player was visiting a store.
- Fixed an issue where a communication error could occur while a player was trading in gear at a shop.
- Fixed an issue where a connection error could occur when purchasing a weapon. A player would then appear to have the weapon equipped despite not being able to purchase it, which would result in a connection error when the player attempted to engage in combat.
Nintendo has stated that Splatoon 3’s next patch will focus on “balance adjustments and other issues outside the scope of the current patch.” The developer added that it will continue to “monitor and analyze” battle data and make adjustments to Splatoon 3 “midway through the current season.”
Splatoon 3 is now available to download on Nintendo Switch.
