Billie Eilish has seven Grammys and won the Oscar for Best Original Song no time to die, but does the acclaimed singer also want the Sole Survivor title? You know, that CBS contest that left contestants stranded on a desert island for weeks while fighting for $1 million? It seems that’s the case if we deviate from Eilish’s reference to the long-running reality series in her latest song. Spring, survivorJeff Probst executive producer and host responded to the nod with a nod of his own.
Billie Eilish released her second EP, guitar songs, in late July, and on it was a track aptly titled “TV.” Most of the time, the 20-year-old sings about being in love, denying yourself and being alone – like always. But she made two cheeky survivor also metaphors that say: “I attract survivor just to watch someone suffer” and “sink into the sofa while they all betray each other.” Jeff Probst responded to the name drop with an Instagram post, which he captioned with one of his many iconic lines from the show. He quipped that “nothing is easy survivor‘ but that it’s ‘easy to love’ Billie’s new bop. Look here:
So the 2022 Coachella headliner has those survivor connect on lock – when she actually dreams of playing the game “outsmart, outsmart, outlast” like the rest of the fan base. Technically, unlike its sister show, it didn’t have a celebrity-centric season Celebrity Big Brotherbut we’ve actually seen a famous face or two in the show’s 20+ year history.
Namely, there were some prominent athletes, such as ex-NFL coach Jimmy Johnson, NBA player Scot Pollard, and retired NFL player Brad Culpepper. For Movie/TV Stars Mike White by School of Rock Fame/Creator of HBOs The White Lotus played every 39 days Survivor: David vs. Goliath and almost won. (No problem he didn’t, as he was later able to lend his creative talent to Jeff Probst when they were brainstorming ideas for Season 41.) Also, Billie Eilish’s musical contemporary Sia also attends the show, but as an awards presenter rather than a player.
To be honest, Jeff Probst’s followers in the comments were just as excited about anything other than Billie Eilish’s exposed fandom. Many were actually totally shocked that it appeared Probst was using BeReal, a new social media app that’s blowing up and calling itself “anti-Instagram,” to highlight the moment. (It’s almost like some kind of impromptu game, with the app randomly prompting you to snap a snapshot of your current “real-life” situation in less than two minutes.) As a result, the veteran TV personality was greeted with a ton of “add me on BeReal” requests and “Add Billie Eilish to next year’s cast” alike.
The “Ocean Eyes” singer performs survivor would certainly be a sight to behold. She’s right that there’s a lot of sneaky stuff in the now 26-day game. And with the new twists in Seasons 41 and 42 creating what a former contestant put it, “the spiral of chaos,” one wonders how Billie Eilish would fare in such a scenario. As fans know, winning requires a certain level of social finesse, or in other words, caring about what other people think of you. Since Eilish is known for having some over-the-top reactions to things, I imagine she’s either voted out on Day 1 or goes to the end.
Regardless, the star wouldn’t get a chance to play for some time, even if she wanted to survivor 43 and 44 were filmed back-to-back earlier this year. What we do know so far is that Jeff Probst says only some of the new twists will be returning in these upcoming seasons. (Hopefully not the hourglass, which some considered the worst twist in the show’s history.) Fans, which apparently includes Billie Eilish, can catch the new season when it arrives on September 21 as part of on CBS TV program will premiere in 2022.
I’m just saying, Billie, I’d also love to watch them suffer and cheat on each other while they’re sitting on my sofa…
