A remastered edition of ANVIL‘s acclaimed documentary, “Anvil! The Story of the Anvil”received its premiere in connection with Beyond Fest on September 22 in Los Angeles at the Saban Theater where ANVIL also performed, along with performances by surprise musical guests, including ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian. A question and answer session followed ANVIL frontman Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb ReinerManufacturer Rebecca Yeldham and director Sacha Gervasimoderated by Steve-O out “Donkey”.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk”, pure and Kudlow were asked about the fact that the film was a critical success but failed to impress ANVIL to a significantly larger audience than before the film’s original release.

“Well, that could never have happened” Robb explained. “What was achieved what we wanted: the band is [now] our shit job. [We haven’t had to work a regular job] in 15 years. So we live damn well just from the band. That’s success for us.”

Added lips: “We are not a pop band.”

As a host Eddie Trunk pointed out that “neither nor IRON MAIDEN,” which can nevertheless be used in arenas and stadiums all over the world, lips replied: “Yes, but IRON MAIDENwas a pop band, because in 1982 they were all over the radio… I would say “Run to the Hills” ran on the radio every 10 minutes [back in those days].”

Robb further admitted that ANVIL is still essentially an underground metal band with limited commercial appeal.

“There was an interruption [with the people who saw the film]”, he said. “There are film people who are film people, and there [are] Film people who are music people. And we have experienced that. So it wasn’t widespread. People stopped at the film.

“In the film I agree lips, I say to him, ‘Man, I need this band to climb up.’ The band has risen compared to the film.” Robb written down. “We can get better known, sure.”

Added lips: “We’re not a radio-oriented band – never were, never wanted to be. That’s not what this was about. It’s about metal – metal is an underground thing. And the more above ground, the less… Less is more. You don’t really want to surface, then you end up not being liked.”

continuation Robb: ” MOTORHEAD is a great template for us. So whatever you want to watch this… Whatever lemmy done, that was great.”

lips said, “What we’re saying is that they’re not a commercial success. They haven’t sold millions and millions of copies of their records. Anything that’s real metal, I don’t think really will.”

The remastered “Anvil! The Story of the Anvil” will be released in theaters this fall and via digital later this year utopia Next Portobello electric. Coming in time for its 13th anniversary, the new version of the film includes revised visuals and audio, as well as a new exclusive epilogue interview Gervasim Kudlow and pure moderated by former MTV host Matt Pinfield.

The album influenced an entire musical generation of rock bands, including METALLIKA, SLAYERSand ANTHRAXwho all sold millions of records. ANVIL, on the other hand, went a different route – straight into the darkness.
