Logitech announces two keyboards and a pair of mice exclusively for Mac users
Written by adrina

Logitech launched a number of new products this month, and the new arrivals include four new mice and keyboards designed specifically for Apple Mac users. Logitech understands how important the Mac market is and is determined to offer some great looking and functional alternatives to Apple’s aging Magic keyboards and mice.

The first of Logitech’s quartet of new Mac products is the gorgeous little K380 keyboard for Mac. With an all-Mac layout, this low-profile Bluetooth keyboard has the feel of a laptop and comes in a cute new Blueberry finish, along with Rose and Pale Gray options. The K380 is a perfect match for Logitech’s Pebble mouse.

The K380 can be paired with up to three Bluetooth devices and it’s easy to switch between them by pressing one of the toggle buttons. The keyboard is lightweight and takes up very little valuable desk space. The layout is Mac-only and the curved keys are ultra-quiet in operation and won’t disturb your colleagues.

Logitech’s second new Mac product is the Lift Vertical Mouse. Developed in Logitech’s Ergo lab, the design features a ribbed body made from SoftGrip material for all-day comfort. With a 57˚ incline, the lift’s shape gently prompts the user to assume a handshake position that places the keys comfortably under the fingers. The design places the arm and upper body in a more natural posture, reducing the fatigue that many people experience when using a regular mouse.

Lift has an amazing two year battery life on a single AA battery and connects via Bluetooth. The magnetic scroll wheel is great for precisely moving through lines of code and comes in light gray.

Logitech’s two end products are the MX Mechanical Mini for Mac and the MX Master 3S Mouse for Mac. The keyboard is compact with mechanical switches that offer excellent tactile feedback and backlit keycaps for working in low light. The switches used in the keyboard are brown switches, meaning they are both silent and tactile.

The MX Mechanical Mini for Mac is powered by a rechargeable battery that can be charged with a standard USB-C cable. With the backlight on, the keyboard can last up to 15 days, but with the backlight off, you can type for up to 10 months between charges.

A proximity sensor in the MX Mechanical Mini for Mac detects when a user’s hands are nearby and immediately activates the backlight. This sensor saves power and works in tandem with an ambient light sensor that reduces the backlight when it’s dark and increases it when it’s brighter. When the battery reaches 10% of its capacity, the backlight turns off automatically, giving the user a few weeks to charge the battery before it runs out.

The low-profile keycap design on the MX Mechanical Mini for Mac is comfortable to type on, and the keyboard can be raised with built-in legs at the base of the keyboard. All keys have a Mac-only layout, and there are dedicated function keys for customizing things like backlighting, dictation, emojis, mic mute, search, and audio controls for music playback.

In addition, the MX Mechanical Mini for Mac can be paired with up to three separate Bluetooth devices: a Mac, an iPad or even an iPhone or a second computer. The keyboard can also be paired with one of Logitech’s Bolt receivers if you use or have one from one of Logitech’s PC products.

The Logitech MX Mechanical Mini for Mac is available in Space Gray or Pale Gray to perfectly complement your Mac. And to match the MX Mechanical Mini for Mac, Logitech has also released the MX Master 3S Mouse for Mac.

This deluxe mouse is packed with innovative features, including an electromagnetic scroll wheel that toggles between clicking and smooth scrolling. The scroll wheel is so fast that it can scroll through 1,000 lines of code per second or provide precise scrolling line by line.

The sensor of the MX Master 3S for Mac has a DPI of up to 8K. It’s ideal for moving across large displays or even multiple screens when using Logitech’s advanced Flow technology, which enables seamless cut and paste between up to three devices. The sensor can track glass or other shiny surfaces and the DPI is switchable to lower settings if you need it.

The standout feature of the MX Master 3S for Mac is how quiet its keys are. With near-silent clicks and plenty of tactile feedback, the mouse is 90% quieter than its predecessor and will delight anyone working in a busy office. Once you start using the new quiet buttons, you won’t want to go back to an old clicky mouse.

The MX Master 3S for Mac has a left button, a right button and a third button on top. Next, there’s the electromagnetic scroll wheel, which is also clickable. Next, there’s a side scroll wheel and forward and backward buttons. Finally, there’s a gesture button at the base of the mouse that falls under the user’s thumb.

All these buttons and scroll wheels of this new mouse are programmable with the new Logi Options+ software. Buttons can be programmed by application, so the scroll wheel can be used to change brush size in Adobe Photoshop or as a zoom tool in Final Cut Pro. Customization is only limited by your imagination.

All Logitech for Mac products contain varying amounts of recycled plastic. The percentage varies depending on whether you choose Space Gray or Pale Gray. Logitech takes sustainability seriously, and even the MX Mechanical Keyboard’s aluminum top plate is made from low-carbon aluminum that’s sourced from a hydro-powered smelter. Finally, all the boxes and packaging for the new products are made from paper sourced from FSC-certified forests.

There is one small point about these new Logitech Mac products that is worth mentioning. To use the Logi Options+ software, your Mac must be running macOS Catalina or later. If you have an older Mac that can’t be updated beyond macOS 10.14 (Mojave), you may need to consider upgrading to a new Mac if you want to take advantage of the full customization capabilities of these great new Logitech products.

Verdict: I had the opportunity to test all of Logitech’s new Mac products. Starting with the K380 keyboard, this cute little peripheral looks great in its new Blueberry colorway and pairs so well with the Logitech Pebble mouse. If you’re on a budget and looking for a new mouse and keyboard combo, the K380 is hard to beat.

The Logitech Lift is something of a revelation, especially if you’re a heavy rodent user. The position the device places your wrist in is so much more comfortable and reduces movement from the shoulder. If you have any type of RSI, try Logitech Lift as it can heal all types of postural problems.

Finally, we come to the new MX Mechanical for Mac and the MX Master 3S. The keyboard is an excellent blend of the original’s low-profile comfort; MX key. It’s so good to use a non-PC layout keyboard. The shortcuts and programmable keys are incredibly useful, but remember that you must be running macOS 10.15 or later to use the Logi Options+ software.

The Logitech MX Master 3S mouse has got to be the most advanced mouse out there right now. The electromagnetic scroll wheel is fabulous with its ability to toggle between smooth and click scrolling. When used with the Logi Options+ software, it’s possible to program the buttons endlessly, allowing the mouse to act as an extension of your arm with a whole range of software.

All four of these new products from Logitech finally give us Mac users a choice and alternative to Apple’s standard keyboard and mouse.
