My friends, the day has finally come. A brand new Nintendo Direct has arrived, bringing us the long-awaited title and release date for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, among many other games.
While that was all Zelda news, fans were also treated to the reveal of Fire Emblem Engage, news that Pikmin 4 will be out in 2023, a new Octopath Traveler and Kirby game is on the way that Goldeneye 007 is coming to Nintendo Switch goes online and much more.

The Breath of the Wild sequel is called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and will be released on May 12, 2023
Along with another sneak peek at gameplay, we finally have a release date and name for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Yes, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
The trailer included footage of Link exploring Hyrule – both on land and in the air – giving us a glimpse of a new Stasis power and the shattered world that Hyrule seems to have become. There was also a lot of skydiving, Link riding aboard a stone bird, and more.
Pikmin 4 will finally arrive in 2023
While we didn’t hear too much about it, Shigeru Miyamoto stopped by Nintendo Direct to announce that Pikmin 4 will finally be coming to Switch in 2023. This news is a long time coming, as Miyamoto previously stated that the game was “very good” and “close to completion” in 2015.
Fire Emblem Engage was announced as a new mainline game and includes Marth
Fire Emblem Engage is the next main installment in the Fire Emblem series and follows a story set a thousand years after four kingdoms sealed off the great evil known as the Fell Dragon. In Engage, players become a divine dragon named Alear who must work to collect Emblem Rings in order to “bring peace back to the continent of Elyos.” You can even add other past Fire Emblem characters like Marth and Celica to your party as you travel.
Fire Emblem Engage is coming to Nintendo Switch on January 20th, 2022.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe brings a Wii classic to Switch
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land was first released on Wii in 2011 and will come to Switch in 2023 in a brand new pink puffy packaging. This updated title features multiplayer for up to four players and a collection of mini-games such as Samurai Kirby and Magolor’s Tome Trackers.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe will be released on February 24, 2023.
Octopath Traveler 2 announced with new heroes and the same wonderful 2D HD art style
Octopath Traveler 2 will be released on February 24th, 2023 and will bring with it a whole new cast of heroes and a brand new story to experience in the world of Solistia, all with the same gorgeous 2D HD art style that characterized the original has apart from other JRPGS.
Octopath Traveler 2 will be non-Switch exclusive and will also be coming to PC (via Steam), PS5 and PS4.
Bayonetta 3 is getting a new trailer featuring everyone’s favorite Umbra Witch
The Nintendo Direct gave fans a new Bayonetta 3 trailer that revealed a little more about the game, which is set to release on Switch on October 28th, 2022. The new footage showcased combat, demon summoning, Bayonetta’s transformation abilities, and more.
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line celebrates the music of the franchise and will be released early next year
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line is the ultimate celebration of the franchise’s music and a brand new entry in the series that began on 3DS. This new game will feature over 385 songs and will allow two players to play locally and up to four players online. There will also be a Season Pass which will add 90 new songs including some from Nier, Octopath Traveler and Live a Live.
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line will be released on February 16, 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
Goldeneye 007 (with online play!), Mario Party and Pokemon Stadium lead the line of new N64 games heading to the Switch
Nintendo revealed some upcoming games that will be added to Nintendo Switch Online soon, and perhaps the most exciting one is Goldeneye 007. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Goldeneye will even feature online gaming. In addition to Goldeneye, Pilotwings, Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64 will also join the service in 2022 and 2023.
