Another week down, let’s recap. The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 showed impressive muscles on AnTuTu and GFXBench, especially on the graphics front. It managed to top all current chipsets, including the Apple A16 Bionic, although cross-platform comparisons are rarely a good idea.
Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 12 series just last week and the first sale went great. The four phones garnered 350,000 orders in the initial flash sale, exhausting original inventory.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi showed off a prototype with two of the 1-inch sensors from the Xiaomi 12S Ultra – one is the same as the 12S Ultra, complete with a lens, the other is lensless and can fit Leica M-mount glass on top! It needs an adapter and makes the whole thing bulky, but it’s an interchangeable lens phone! We probably won’t see this prototype on the shelves – the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Pro is also said to have a 1-inch sensor, maybe a special edition of this device would be more appropriate.
Huawei announced the Pocket S – its cheapest foldable device yet at 5,988 CNY ($820/€830) (although you’d find the Galaxy Z Flip4 for less on the black market right now). The China-bound Pocket S is a watered-down variant of the P50 Pocket, with less impressive cameras and a Snapdragon 778G chipset.
These were some of the key stories of the week, see below for the full list! Until next week!
