TJ Miller (You know, the guy who was there Dead Pool and used to voice the Mucinex guy before Jason Mantzoukas replaced him) has signed up online to tell the story of how Ryan Reynolds was mean to him on the set of Dead Pool and dead pool 2. And if you know anything about Miller, I’m Team Reynolds right outside the gate.
Previously known for his work on Silicon Valley, Miller fell into social disfavor when he was accused of sending a grossly transphobic email to journalist Danielle Solzman that followed a story in which Miller allegedly sexually assaulted and punched a woman. All of this is in addition to Millers Silicon Valley Co-star Alice Wetterlund accuses Miller of bullying her on set (and the male cast of empowering him). Oh, there was also that time he got arrested for reporting a fake bomb threat in his comedy show?
All of this is just to set the framework for who we’re listening to on this one, to remind us that we don’t have to feel the slightest bit sorry for him when Miller says Ryan Reynolds was “appallingly mean” to him.
Speaking of The Adam Carola Show (in case you’re wondering who would even guest star Miller), he told the story of an “awkward” moment between the two actors. Miller states that as a character, Reynolds would say offensive things about not being the star and would state that Miller wasn’t funny to him – addressing Miller as his character Weasel.
“As a character, he was terribly mean to me. But to me. Like I’m a weasel,” Miller continued The Adam Carola Show. “He said, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you show just enough that it’s funny, and then we can go and get back to the real movie.”
Honestly? That is funny.
How is Reynolds the insecure?
One of the parts of Miller’s story that made me laugh came later in the interview when he said he wasn’t coming back dead pool 3 even if you ask him. “I wouldn’t have done that dead pool 3 if they came up to me and said, ‘We want you to do Deadpool 3, and we’ll pay you twice as much,'” he said. Secure.
He also said his tune could “change,” as could his attitude toward notorious sexist Michael Bay, who Miller has vaguely suggested has a similar opinion of Reynolds as he does.
Miller, who seems to think playing Deadpool is what made Ryan Reynolds so famous, brought up the fact that he thinks Reynolds is an “unsafe guy” in real life, saying, “He’s such a good comedian, that if you cover his face, he’s so fast, he’s so funny. I love him as a comedian but I guess after he got super, super famous from the start Dead Pool, then things kind of changed. I think he was like, ‘See? Do you see?'”
At the point when Dead Pool was released, Reynolds had previously not only played Wade Wilson but also appeared in a number of major films, was already married to Blake Lively and had a very big comedy career. It wasn’t Reynolds hurt So I don’t understand this comment in general? Feels like someone (Miller) projecting their own feelings onto someone else (Reynolds) in my humble opinion!
I don’t know what Miller is getting at with this interview. Mainly because he said even if he didn’t have that, I think, beef with Reynolds, he wouldn’t come back to play weasel anyway because he’s been doing it for too long. “I really don’t think you should do anything longer than five years,” he said. “I think it’s weird just going back ten years later and playing Weasel.”
Which is hilarious since 2018, Reynolds said dead pool 3 would not include Miller.
Basically, Miller just gave an in-depth interview describing how Reynolds dislikes him. Honestly, given the many things Miller has been accused of and the stories surrounding him that have haunted him through the comedy community and beyond, I don’t blame Reynolds for disliking him, if that’s true.
