Days of our lives wouldn’t…would they? The horrifying identity of Paulina’s blackmailer that would set off even the most die-hard fans

Neither of us really thought that Paulina and Chanel’s troubles were over days of our lives after Alex Sloane snatched her mysterious file, right? She hasn’t been around that long, but it’s clear that Sloane is slippery as an eel and utterly ruthless. There’s no way she doesn’t have plenty of backup copies on hand.

Someonewhether it was Paulina, Stephanie or even Alex, since he seems to know best what kind of person Sloane is, should have known that this wasn’t the end of things. But we suspect not, because according to spoilers, it looks like Sloane will pull the trigger after the election because Chanel will be arrested the next day. And that seems… strange. Once the secret is out, the levers of blackmail are gone.

Whether or not Paulina wins the election, she has made it clear that she wants to protect Chanel at all costs. Keeping this secret about her seems like a surefire way to break her and eventually get money out of her.

But to sue Chanel when both she and Paulina seem certain it would ruin their lives? This is just… vindictive. (It’s probably even more vicious since Chanel still hasn’t gotten around to cleaning up on Allie. And if she thinks the threat is over, she probably won’t until it’s too late.)

And that makes us think again about who is behind this whole scheme. And the more we learn how the story progresses, the more we keep coming back to a terrible name. Because for this story to have any payoff, it can’t be a random person we’ve never seen or heard of in Salem before the blackmail. It has to be someone who has a connection to Paulina.

And despite the fact that we can easily imagine Paulina upsetting a great many people in the business world as she rises to the top, there really is only one Enemy from her we know: TR.

Look, we got Charlie talking to Ava again. The jury is still out on whether it’s his actual mind or a figment of her imagination. But Days of Our Lives loves to bring villains back from the dead – sometimes literally, sometimes a little more…spiritually.

Either way it is Not A stretch to think they would bring back TR, who is mad at Paulina and wants to get his payday out of her, but smart enough to know that now that he’s “dead” he needs to hold back. Between the last time he lost it, he had moments of clarity trying to force himself to calm down and think things through.

With the chance of Eli ratting on him at any second and knowing that taking Paulina for all her money and killing her was a pretty extreme plan, he might have planned a worst case scenario escape hatch. As if he were faking his own death.

But that wouldn’t mean someone as vindictive as he was done with Paulina or her money. He just needed to find another way to get there so that even if his life and reputation were ruined – which was pretty much guaranteed the moment he shot Eli – he could still live comfortably in one New Life.

It wouldn’t be the first time he’s “started from scratch” and changed his name from Ray to TR.

This can both terrorize Paulina – something we know TR loves to do – and make some money off her. Hell, maybe his plan the whole time was to throw Chanel under the bus, no matter if Paulina paid.

Why would Sloane agree to work with him to start with… greed? Money seems to be all she is interested in. Blackmail isn’t exactly legal, so lawyer or not, she has a pretty loose connection to the law.

Either way, it’s clear that this story is far from over. And things are likely to get way, way worse before they get better.
