Diaz vs. Ferguson took place on September 10th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nate Diaz (21-13) and Tony Ferguson (25-8) collided in the main event. The fight was broadcast live on UFC pay-per-view.

round 1

Diaz comes out slapping, but Ferguson quickly punches him back. We’ve had a few weirdos from Ferguson. There is no spying here.

The action calms down and Diaz seems happy to let the smaller Ferguson advance. Blood spurts from a laceration on Ferguson’s left leg from a controlled kick. Ferguson mimics Diaz’s sideways stance and starts laughing. Ferguson with a couple of leg kicks. Right hand to body for Ferguson. There’s Diaz with a clean left hand on his face and Ferguson wipes him for it.

Diaz with a good counter as Ferguson advances. Ferguson leads with an elbow, but Diaz reads it and hits Ferguson with a combination. Ferguson fires a powerful kick back to the body. Diaz figures out the range and throws out a few punches. Ferguson’s Spinning Attack isn’t close. Diaz ends Round 1 with a short combo.

Diaz with a sweet set-up to land a hard outside leg kick. Ferguson sneaks through Diaz’s defense with a right hand. Diaz chases and Ferguson cuts him off with a jab. Diaz throws that jab with confidence. Ferguson defends a combination. Ferguson now looks relaxed and the right hand lands again.

Diaz with a straight left. Ferguson intercepts a leg and scores with the right. He hits an inside leg kick as Diaz steps forward. Diaz is head hunting now. Cut through Ferguson’s right eye gives him trouble. Ninety seconds left and Diaz turns it back on.

Overhand to the left of Diaz. Diaz scores with a combination. Ferguson wants to stay in the pocket, but Diaz circles and uses his range.

round 3

Ferguson tries to support Diaz with kicks, but Diaz keeps leaning forward, looking for punches. A hard inside leg kick triggers a reaction from Diaz. He turns around and Ferguson just stands in the middle of the octagon pointing at an imaginary clock. He falls on his back and taunts Diaz. Goddard waves Diaz back to the center and keep fighting.

Hard exchanges between the fighters as action resumes, then Diaz hits Ferguson with a loud leg kick. Diaz smiles and breathes against the cage. This got very bizarre very quickly.

More leg kicks from Ferguson. Diaz takes a… easygoing approach, to say the least. Diaz rushes in with punches. Ferguson dodges. Diaz turns his back on Ferguson and starts yelling at someone by the cage.

Diaz does a good job if he takes it seriously. Now it’s Ferguson on the backfoot. Diaz deals damage with body kicks. He leans in and invites Ferguson to attack him. Ferguson didn’t look as relaxed as he did a few minutes ago. A jab lands for Ferguson. Diaz throws to his head and this is another strong end of a round for him, albeit an incredibly strange round.

round 4

Ferguson goes back to the body with kicks. He lunges for an ankle pick and Diaz just folds out. Front kicks to Diaz’s body. Ferguson hits the jab and follows with an inside leg kick. Ferguson’s scoop hit lands before orbiting. Slow start for Diaz this round, will he rev up late as usual?

Diaz hits with a hard shot just in time for the cue and Ferguson is forced to retreat. Several punches land for Diaz. Ferguson is just struggling to stay away from the cage. He hits Diaz in the body with a left hook. Diaz punches Ferguson’s body, then goes back to the head. Takedown by Ferguson, but he falls straight into a guillotine. Diaz sinks it and the cock comes fast!
