“I think Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at its core,” Bure said in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal. “My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth.”

For over a decade, 47-year-old Bure earned the nickname “Queen of Christmas” after starring in various Christmas movies for the Hallmark Channel before joining GAF, a Christian faith-based network.

GAF will emphasize Christianity in the stories it brings to screens, says CEO Bill Abbott. “Spiritual or faith-based content is severely underserved,” says Abbott.

You too, candy. There is nothing untraditional about same-sex couples,” Burton tweeted in response to Bure’s comments.

in one follow up tweetBurton called Bure a “fanatic”.

“I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. Why, surely. Earn your money honey. You’re riding this wave of prejudice to the bank,” she wrote.

“Honestly, after everything that happened a few months ago, I can’t believe that not only is she making a film with the intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but she is then speaking about it in the press,” Siwa wrote. “This is rude and hurtful to an entire community of people.”
