That She-Hulk: Lawyer The finale is finally here. Fresh off last week’s thrilling episode that focused on the long-awaited arrival of Daredevil, this climax chapter takes some major swings and opens up a number of exciting possibilities for the future.
1. Erasing the Fourth Wall
The Marvel Cinematic Universe operates largely within the confines of the fourth wall. Occasionally characters will make jokes related to the fact that they are in a fictional story. She-Hulk: Lawyer was an exception to the wall from the start, as Jennifer often broke the fourth wall with some cheeky jokes. In the finale, she spins up a few more levels, smashing the fourth wall in the process. Unhappy with how the final episode went, she notes that the storylines are confusing and questions if they work for the reader. She then asks the reader if the episode “works” for the viewer before the screen switches to the Marvel Library on Disney Plus, seemingly indicating the viewer is leaving the show. Jennifer takes matters into her own hands as she breaks out of the menu and jumps into one miracle assembled program.
Upon arrival, she storms off the set and enters the writers’ room She-Hulk: Lawyer. Jennifer criticizes the story, noting that it borrows from many other superhero stories. An author responds by saying that some things should happen in every superhero story, but Jennifer fires back by wondering why they can’t do things their own way. When Jennifer is briefed on KEVIN, a mysterious person responsible for all decisions about the show, Jennifer heads to the Marvel Studios offices, where she sees what appears to be the opening credits for every MCU project. KEVIN arrives later, and in response to Jennifer’s complaints, the robot says it has the world’s most advanced entertainment algorithm. This is where the episode goes off the rails.

Jennifer says she’s unhappy with her story and KEVIN fires back by telling her it’s his story. Jennifer continues with her closing argument by explaining that the MCU is known for its big spectacles but follows similar storytelling formulas. She says they don’t have to because she has her own ideas about how the finale should go. She brings in her suggestions that throw off the course of events for the first few minutes of the episode, including the Hulk (Bruce Banner) showing up to save the day. KEVIN replies that it was about Bruce introducing someone, but Jennifer cuts him off by telling him to save it for the film. She then lists several MCU characters with “daddy issues,” wonders when the X-Men will show up, and says she has ideas for season two.
In short, the fourth wall has been shattered by the Hulk, and it will be fascinating to see how Jennifer and other characters might lean into this dynamic forward motion.
2. She-Hulk, the superheroine
In the course of the finale, Jennifer eventually becomes a superhero. She was previously reluctant to embrace her powers and use them to fight crime. But after controlling her narrative and defeating Todd, who turns out to be the HulkKing, the creator of Intelligencia, she takes the next step in her progression. As she goes to court, determined to win a legal victory over Todd, a reporter asks her a few questions. Jennifer says she will go after anyone who hurts innocent people. When asked if she means bringing justice as a lawyer or as a superhero, Jennifer says she’ll go both ways. In doing so, it becomes clear that Jennifer has accepted the two sides of herself and brings the first season’s arc to a clean conclusion.
3. Baby Hulk!
One of the episode’s briefest moments delivers one of its most significant outcomes. After Jennifer defeated the villain in her own way by reshaping the story, the episode ends with a big family dinner. Matt Murdock is a special guest and he is not alone. Bruce comes and says he was away on Sakaar. Then he introduced Skaar, his son. The newest member of the Hulk family stepped up from behind his father and set the stage for the next chapter in Bruce’s arc in the MCU. In the comics, Skaar is tied into the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk story arcs, so it seems the MCU is headed in that direction. If so, Bruce is about to step into the spotlight in a big way, maybe more than ever.
From breaking the fourth wall to introducing Skaar, the She-Hulk: Lawyer Finale delivered several moments that will keep viewers talking for weeks. As of this writing, the series has not been renewed for a second season, although Jennifer hinted at the possibility during the episode. No matter what happens next, this show established Jennifer and She-Hulk as prominent heroes in the MCU and fleshed out their character enough that it could easily cross over into other shows and future films. Also, the finale laid out Bruce’s future, which could include “World War Hulk,” a potential direction that will excite casual and hardcore fans alike for some time to come.
