To update [Tue 13th Sep, 2022 12:15 BST]: The day is upon us and we buckle up for 40 minutes of premium announcement content. In addition to the authors below, oOur wonderful video production team has also now shared their thoughts on what to expect from Direct.

Original article [Mon 12th Sep, 2022 18:05 BST]: It’s happening folks, it’s finally happening! After months of keeping us in the dark about Nintendo (apart from a few rumors that convinced us of its truth), Nintendo today announced that it will be hosting a full Direct Showcase tomorrow (13.09) at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST.
Thanks to the message from Giant Bomb journalist and all-around rumor engine Jeff Grubb, we’ve been led into thinking there’s going to be a ton of Zelda content to dig into with this one. It seems likely that we’ll be hearing about switch ports for either or both of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess, and tomorrow might finally be the day we hear about it some more about Breath of the Wild 2? Give us at least one title, Nintendo!
There are also rumors that tomorrow’s Direct could see the reveal of Metroid Prime coming to the Switch, with rumors about that particular port appearing to have been floating around since the dawn of time itself.
But what else will we see? Will there be any news about Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp? Could we hear about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC? Will we learn more about an upcoming Mario game, Odyssey 2 or otherwise? Is there even more Zelda news we may have missed?
Some of our wonderful writers here at Nintendo Life have shared their predictions of what might appear in the Directive below. But don’t just take our word for it, we want to hear from you too! Complete the survey at the bottom of this article, then let us know what you’re looking forward to in the comments!
Let the predictions begin!

Oh how I would like to contradict my predictions and say that I honestly believe this live broadcast will see the release of something big and unexpected for Switch. In fact, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thrilled with the most likely scenarios.
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports aside, it’s me Yes, really I’m hoping for some news on Breath of the Wild 2. With Splatoon 3 out of the way and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the horizon, Nintendo needs to give us more information about their next big title, and why shouldn’t it be the one I’m most excited about am happy? I think a full release date is still unlikely, but a new trailer and official title got to be on the cards, right?
For the same reason, I’m waiting for news about the next Mario Odyssey-style game. Aside from my personal infatuation with the 3D release, Odyssey has been a huge title for the Switch, and with Super Mario 3D All-Stars nowhere near that itch, Big-N would do well to keep up our love of plumbing terms before the dreaded movie falls…

With the rumor mill spawning all the usual suspects (which, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see them come to fruition), there are a few lower-tier titles that would make my day if they showed up . Grezzo has been awfully quiet in recent years, and after watching the approaching 30th anniversary of The frog whose hour strikes (the Japan-only Game Boy title Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru, which inspired Link’s Awakening), I would love to see a remake of it on Switch in the same cutesy style.
The arrival of Game Boy titles on Nintendo Switch Online has been rumored for a while and could make sense to add to the base offering. Having recently returned to Wave Race 64 it has fueled my excitement for a new entry in this series or Excitebike or 1080 or (whisper) F-Zero. Or Rhythm Heaven. It’s time for more Rhythm Heaven!
And beyond first-party, there was rumor that Rocksteady’s Arkham Collection was coming to Switch. I could get this over with.

I always like to go into a Nintendo Direct with low expectations for fear of being disappointed, but I confess – my heart needs a little more Hollow Knight: Silksong in my life. If we’re particularly daring, how about a release date? I’m being let down, aren’t I?
Anyway, for some things that seem more realistic: It’s been a while since we heard about Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. I’ll mention it in every single one of these posts until we get a new trailer or some. And staying with RPGs, I think we could take a look at Xenoblade Chronicle 3’s first Season Pass update. It’s due in winter after all!
But really, what I look forward to most about Directs are things that I would never predict. I love surprises, as much as I’d be excited if the Metroid Prime remake comes true (and I’ll be quick to shell out money for it since I’ve never played it on GameCube or Wii), a brand new title, or a port of a hideaway , hard to find gem would be a blast. Show us what you’ve got, Nintendo.

Like most Nintendo Directs, I feel like I could make a whole bunch of predictions and then none of them turn out to be true. Isn’t that the way? That said, the rumors surrounding potential ports are Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime So widespread at the moment, I kind of feel that way Has be there, right?
Otherwise, I’d love to see some sort of update to Metroid Prime 4; Maybe just a short teaser? Some to tell me it’s a work in progress and on the way. I’d also like to see the Switch get some tasty horror games in the coming months because it feels like the other platforms are getting all the good horror games right now (hi, Resident Evil 4 Remake). As a final, more niche prediction/wish, if developers ZA/UM came up with some kind of sequel to Disco Elysium, it would be absolutely incredible… One can only hope.
As for this winter – which seems to be the main focus of the Direct – I’m fine, you know? I don’t want to see much of games like Bayonetta 3, Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope and Sonic Frontiers anymore. Certainly nothing about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, thanks a lot. I know at this point if I’ll get them or not, so one more trailer won’t change my mind.
Are you looking forward to Direct? Are there titles that we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
