If you’ve seen them Love is blind reunion and then went on social media somewhere today, it’s fair to say that a particular scene between Zanab Jaffrey and Cole Barnett split the internet. Now Zanab has commented on the reaction in an interview with Cosmopolitan UK.
Alongside the latest wedding episode, Netflix dropped the Love is blind reunion today [9 November], in which all five couples from season three look back on their time in the experiment. The early viewers spotted SK and Raven trying again before attention turned to Cole and Zanab. The couple debated why she said no to him at the altar, with Zanab insisting she had not shared her decision with friends or family beforehand.
“People had known things that had happened,” she told hosts Nick and Vanessa. “Like trying to control what I eat and trying to change my eating habits. Guys…a few of my friends knew.”
Cole replies, “That’s hilarious. I never cared what you ate. What are you talking about?”
Zanab then said, “The ‘cuties [tangerines] Story’ that didn’t make it. It was about 2pm we were still filming so I grabbed two cuties like the little tiny oranges that fit in the palm of your hand. He looked at me and said, ‘Are you going to eat both?’ And I said, “Yeah, that’s a portion.”
“And he’s like, ‘Well, we’re going to eat later, maybe you should save your appetite.'”
If the reunion Episode ended, the ‘cuties clip’ then played. It went a bit like this:
Cabbage: “peel oranges. Do you want to eat two of them at once?”
Zanab: “Perhaps. That’s one serving. Do you agree with that?”
Cole: “Better save your appetite.”
Zanab: “I just had a banana and a scoop of peanut butter today.”
Cole: “I’m talking about a big old git tonight. You only had one banana today? Why?”
Zay: “I could tell you that, but I probably shouldn’t.”
Cole: “I offered you a poke bowl.”
Zay: “I know you did that, but we had that last night.”
Cole: “Oh, are you getting a wedding dress?”
Since the episode aired, some people have taken to social media to show their support for Zanab, while others have accused her of throwing the story out of proportion and possibly intentionally casting Cole in a bad light.
In response, Zanab told Cosmopolitan UK: “There are two sides to the internet. People feel powerful about it, and that’s the trap of going on reality TV and falling in love and it doesn’t work. [I’ve read] that I’m a liar and that I’m evil and sneaky and mean and I need to work on myself.”
Mentioning the ‘cute clip’, she continues, “I stand by what I said – I’m someone who chooses my words very carefully. I said what I said for a reason. I think people saw the ‘cute clip’ differently[ly] than how I felt about it. That’s why I brought it up.

“People are already saying it seems like I’m a liar. I hate that it seems like I’m not credible there. [But] I wouldn’t have brought it up if it wasn’t important [to me] or wasn’t part of why I said what I said at the wedding. People know not to comment on what a woman eats, period.”
Regardless of what you think, it’s important to remember love is blind only gives us a glimpse into the couples’ relationships and we don’t really know what goes on behind closed doors.
Love Is Blind is now streaming on Netflix.
