Are you ready for Samsung’s summer salvo of foldable, portable and peripheral devices? Yes, it’s that time of year again, and the company’s Unpacked event will likely share two foldable smartphones, a new pro wearable, and likely some new software tricks.
It won’t be a huge shock judging by the leaks, but the new Galaxy Z Fold could borrow design cues from the S22 Ultra to ensure a more contemporary look. The next-gen Galaxy Z Flip, the clamshell flip, looks even more like its predecessor, so we’re awaiting confirmation on exactly what’s changed. This is the series that’s helping Samsung sell its foldable family around the world – hopefully the company has opportunities to capitalize on that excitement. And install a bigger battery.
Samsung is also expected to unveil its Galaxy Watch 5 Pro next week. You might not get the knurled bezel of previous Samsung smartwatches, but the Pro would upgrade from a steel body to lightweight but strong titanium. Samsung accidentally hinted at the Pro name in its Health app, though no further clues have been given.
Samsung Unpacked will stream Wednesday, August 10th at 9:00pm ET and we’ll be covering all the big reveals live. We’ll likely have some fresh opinions on foldable phones too.

The company partially attributed the expansion push to other countries, including South Korea. Those gains are good, but Paramount+’s total subscriber count is still tiny compared to Netflix (220.7 million) and Amazon Prime Video (over 200 million).

A negative leap second may be required to correct clocks.
Sure, it sounds like a gritty sci-fi premise, but it happens. According to scientists, midnight on June 29 came 1.59 milliseconds earlier than expected. It was the shortest day in over half a century. Scientists believe that earthquakes, stronger winds in El Niño years, melting and refreezing ice caps, the moon and climate could affect the rotation speed. Some have suggested that the Chandler wobble – a small deviation in the Earth’s rotation point – could also have an effect.

Instagram users can add NFTs to their feed and messages, as well as augmented reality stickers in stories. NFT creators and collectors are automatically flagged for attribution. You can’t buy or sell NFTs on Instagram just yet, but the company has strongly indicated it’s working on a marketplace. Perfect timing, meta: the non-fungible token (NFT) market just fell off a cliff.
