AEW continues its live editions of Rampage in October with a show from Jacksonville, Fla. that includes three title matches.
In the headliner, AEW Tag Team Champions will defend The Acclaimed against The Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese & Josh Woods) where Max Caster & Anthony Bowens win, they take the trademark “scissor me” Mark Sterling possesses and deny them, it to use.
In a match Thursday night, AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange will defend Cassidy against both Rush and Preston “Ten” Vance. Originally just Rush vs. Vance, Cassidy got involved and offered to take the title in the process.
The FTW title will be at stake as the undefeated Hook defends against the Trustbusters’ Ari Daivari, who recently offered to buy the belt for $50,000 but was turned down.
In singles, fan favorite Willow Nightingale meets Penelope Ford.
Our live coverage begins at 10 p.m. Eastern.

Live from Jacksonville, Florida with Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone as commentators.
The Varsity Athletes and Mark Sterling performed on YouTube while the good Wonder Woman movie wrapped up on TNT. Sterling wore a pink suit decorated with scissors. Schiavone complained about closed trademark attorneys in wrestling.
The Acclaimed (w/ Billy Gunn) def. The Varsity Athletes (w/ Mark Sterling) to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship and regain the “scissoring” trademark (8:06)
Of course, Max Caster mentioned in his rap that AEW won Tuesday’s odds war, but Sterling cut off Anthony Bowens before he could say, “Scissor Me, Daddy!” This sparked a brawl between the two teams, who eventually resulted in Bowens whipping Josh Woods into a power slam of Caster for a near fall. Also in the commentary it is mentioned that a deal was struck to stop Jade Cargill from holding the show hostage. Disappointing.
Woods threw Caster to the ground and dragged Billy Gunn in the ring, and the referee threw Gunn out. (After watching a second time, Woods flopped next to Gunn in the ring and then claimed Gunn tripped him, so the referee sent Gunn back.) Woods hit Caster with a neckbreaker to take control when the show went on hiatus.
After the break, Caster hit Woods with a crossbody off the top rope and tags were made on both sides. Bowens picked up the fight with both Woods and Nese. Bowens knocked Nese to the ground from a standing position with a leaping leg drop to the back of his neck. Nese and Woods made a comeback. Nese sent Bowens off the center turnbuckle into a kneestrike from Woods. The varsity athletes hit Bownes with her angle slam/neckbreaker combo for a near miss. Caster catches Woods with an inverted Death Valley driver, but Nese super kicks back at Caster. Bowens rolled through a sunset flip attempt by Nese and scored with a knee kick. Bowens superkicked Woods, hit Nese with the Arrival, and Caster mic dropped the pinfall off the top.
It’s amazing how great The Acclaimed have become in such a short amount of time.
After the match, Sterling held up the trademark documents, claiming that just because his team lost didn’t mean he lost the trademark. Gunn returns and throws Sterling in the ring. The praised one destroyed Sterling while Gunn tore up the trademark which I’m sure renders legally invalid in wrestling. The tag champions and Billy Gunn sheared to the delight of the crowd.
– In a pre-taped segment, Tony Schiavone interviewed Jade Cargill. Penelope Ford is injured so Leila Gray will replace her in tonight’s match against Willow Nightingale. In return, Nyla Rose will step into the ring for a confrontation with Cargill to get her TBS belt back. Cargill doesn’t care about Rampage, they just want their belt back. She is a professional woman who keeps her word, just like Schiavone!
– In the background, Ortiz and the Lucha Brothers try to stage an intervention with Eddie Kingston because of his temper. PAC cut him off and told Kingston to listen to them as they are all champions. PAC then penalized Kingston for his behavior at the Grand Slam. This angered Kingston, but Ortiz managed to keep him calm.
Hook def. Ari Daivari (with Jeeves K) to retain the FTW title (2:47)
Daivari tried to pay Hook off with a pile of cash for the belt before the match, but Hook knocked the money out of Daivari’s hand. “I’ll be right back.” – JR
Daivari actually did well against Hook… for about a minute. Hook defended himself with body punches and a fisherman’s suplex. Jeeves K the Butler interfered and Daivari got a near fall with a suplex. Hook dodged an attack that sent Daivari onto the apron, where Hook pinned the Redrum and dragged Daivari back into the ring to submit. Hook then grabbed Jeeves and choked him as well.
– Lexi Nair interviewed Stokely Hathaway, Matt Hardy and Ethan Page. Hathaway sent Private Party to Stokely Hathaway Wrestling Academy and they are sending Matt Hardy to have a match on Dark next week. Matt Hardy responded with a rap that left everyone confused.
Willow Nightingale def. Leila Gray (7:51)
Nightingale hit Gray with a pair of short-arm clotheslines and a slam. Nightingale chased Gray out of the ring and got in with Hogan on the floor. Hogan hits Nightingale with a Superkick, allowing Gray to take control.
After a long commercial break, Nightingale nearly fell with a spinebuster. Gray countered a Fireman’s carry with a Russian leg sweep, then went into a bulldog out of the corner after CM Punk’s running knee in the corner, but Gray countered the bulldog. Hogan tried a second time to intervene but failed and Gray hit a kick, the DoctorBomb (gutwrench suplex into a sitout powerbomb) for the pinfall. To press. This. Woman. Nightingale is fantastic and over with the crowd.
After the match, Tony Schiavone entered the ring and announced that Nightingale was now officially #AllElite. The celebration ended abruptly when Jade Cargill came out with a chair to stage a sit-in protest in the ring and give Nyla Rose a ten-second countdown to return the belt. As the crowd counted down, Nyla Rose was shown in the parking lot stealing Cargill’s car. Rose took her crew to Jacksonville for a night on the town. Cargill stayed in the ring while the baddies ran to the back to try and catch the car (don’t think they’ll have much luck on foot). Jade beat up security forces who tried to remove her.
– You replayed the angle of twitter preparing for tonight’s main event. “Orange, I don’t even have a mouth” made me laugh.
Orange Cassidy (with Danhausen & The Best Friends) def. Rush (with Jose the Assistant) and Dark Order #10 Preston Vance (with -1) to retain the AEW All Atlantic Championship (11:53)
Cassidy attempted to steal Mark Henry’s line during the main event promo. Jose promised Rush to make Cassidy the short-lived champion in AEW, which is not possible since Cassidy has already outlasted Punk’s reign.
It was during that game that commentators first mentioned that Adam Page is doing well and is resting comfortably after his game on Tuesday. Also this week, Schivone and Ross spoke about the sudden death of AEW Lead Video Engineer Brian Muster.
This triple threat match was perfect for Cassidy. He leaned back into the opening and let Rush and Vance punch each other. When they turned their attention to Cassidy, he hit them with his “high impact” kicks. Rush pinned Vance with a forearm, Cassidy hit Rush with a shotgun dropkick and the fight went to the ground where Rush took control. Rush dominated and fought with both of his opponents. He choked Vance with an extension cord. There was a lot of fighting on the ground, but it didn’t feel like much happened.
Finally, Rush and Vance went back into the ring briefly, where Vance hit a series of clotheslines. They went back to the ground. Cassidy tried to follow with a plancha, but Vance and Rush caught him and sent Cassidy through a ring table.
After a long split screen pause, Vance hits Rush with a spear. Vance went for the full nelson on Cassidy, but Cassidy countered with a Slumdog Millionaire and spinning DDT. Cassidy hit the beach break on Vance for a near fall that was stopped by Jose. Danhausen cursed Jose and then knocked him out. Rush knocked out Danhausen and soaked up the boos from the crowd.
Cassidy charged at Rush and got a suplex in the turnbuckles. Vance hit Rush with a pair of clotheslines, an inverted blue thunder bomb, and the spinebuster. The crowd got behind Vance (cheering Vance! Vance! Vance!) and he hit a wheelbarrow suplex and a clothesline on Cassidy for a near fall. Rush twisted Vance’s mask around his face so he couldn’t see. Cassidy dumped Rush with the Orange Punch. Cassidy tried to take Vance to the beach break, but Vance slipped into a sunset flip. Cassidy sat down and countered into a cradle (like the Bulldog at Summerslam 92) and got the pinfall.
A fun match that really picked up speed after the break and everyone looked really good.
After the match, Rush and Vance briefly stared at the entrance ramp (which seemed like they agreed?), but -1 ran out and 10 had to carry him away before attempting to take out Rush. Which -1 absolutely could do. Orange Cassidy and the best friend celebrated in the ring to close the show.
– After the show ended, a very tasteful tribute to Brian Muster was aired, narrated by Excalibur.
Final Thoughts:
Orange Cassidy and the Acclaimed brought star power to the show this week. The live (or almost live) shows over the last few weeks have been a real improvement.
