Coronation Street fans appear to have “worked out” what could become of the detective, and many viewers of the ITV soap are concerned about the character after watching Friday’s episode, in which he took part in an “appearance” with Griff attended what turned out to be a meeting place for Griff’s far-right gang. With the group’s investigations underway, Spider has tried to stay on Griff’s good side and pretend he agrees with him, but could he be putting himself in a seriously dangerous situation? Viewers seem to think so and have warned him to be “very careful”.
Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) eventually went to the event after being invited by Griff (Michael Condron).
However, he had no idea what he was actually participating in and was furious when he found out.
Upon hearing some of the news the group was trying to spread, Peter was disgusted, but Spider (Martin Hancock) had to downplay things due to the investigation.
“Did you hear what they sang?” asked Peter as he and Spider left the venue. “Did you hear the lyrics?”

“I wasn’t listening to be honest,” Spider replied casually.
Finding the two outside, Griff tried to convince the couple to go back inside.
He had decided that Peter would be a good candidate to join his agenda and assumed he would agree with her stance.
“The band is racist and they all sang along,” snapped Peter angrily.
When Griff tried to defend the band, Peter asked, “Are you telling me you didn’t notice?”
“I say you’re overreacting,” Griff argued. Away from Peter, Spider attempted to dismiss the allegations.
“He’s looking for culprits, it could be that he’s a former alcoholic,” he told Griff.
“He’s useful to us, don’t let him come at us now,” Griff said menacingly.
Later, a fight almost broke out between Peter and one of Griff’s friends after he threatened to call the police.
Peter had noticed that the people who attended the event were raising money for something, but wouldn’t tell him what.

Spider broke the line and when the two returned to Weatherfield, Peter Toyah informed Battersby (Georgia Taylor) why they had left while the officer again attempted to deny his claims.
He told Toyah that Peter misheard and that his accusations were false.
Though he’s probably trying to stay on Griff’s good side so he can find out what the group’s really up to, viewers were worried about the popular character.
Will he be able to keep his true motives a secret from Griff and his dangerous cronies?
Twitter user @ChurchieBoy1986 predicted, “Spider’s in trouble #Corrie.”
@itzzzo_ added, “It will backfire when Griff and the gang find out he’s not on their side and that he’s undercover and working against them.”
@RyanGSoapKing11 echoed this, writing: “Spider plays with fire. I hope this doesn’t backfire. #Corrie.”
@Wee_Westie29 added: “Peter, Spider is trying to keep you from getting into serious trouble. #Corrie #CoronationStreet

“Griff says you better not play with me to Spider the undercover cop. #Corrie,” @itzzzo_ pointed out.
@RyanGSoapKing11 shared, “Be very careful Spider #Corrie.” (see)
Could Spider be in serious danger? It could be that Griff will finally find out the truth about what he is actually up to.
The shady character is likely to plot some kind of revenge after realizing Spider betrayed his trust.
Could he lure him somewhere and try to kill him to keep him from investigating further and reporting himself to the police?
It could be that the recently returned character ends up going faster than expected.
Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8pm on ITV.
