MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens and RBC today announced a multi-year kit partnership agreement that will see the RBC logo appear on the home jerseys of Canadiens players worn at the Bell Center starting in the upcoming 2022-23 season.
The partnership brings together two globally recognized brands with rich histories stretching back more than 100 years. At the core of both of these brands is a commitment to their communities. For every official jersey featuring the RBC logo sold locally at the team’s official store, Tricolore Sports, RBC will make a $20 donation to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, helping underprivileged Quebec youth get physical activity and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle lifestyle promotes. The partnership will aim to engage fans in new and exciting ways through unique fan experiences, jersey retention programs and in-arena activations. More details on planned initiatives will be announced in the coming months.
“We are proud to work with such an iconic brand as RBC,” said France Margaret Belanger, President of Sports & Entertainment, Groupe CH. “There are very few organizations like ours with a legacy that stretches back over a century and has transformed the lives of people across generations. We would be hard pressed to find a more appropriate association than the one we can officially unveil today.”
“At RBC we believe sport has the power to unite communities. And hockey, which is part of Quebec’s rich heritage, brings a whole nation together,” said Nadine Renaud-Tinker, regional president, RBC in Quebec. “Working with the Montreal Canadiens in this unique partnership is an honor and we are incredibly excited to see it come to life as we continue to make an impact on the prosperity of Quebec while working with our communities.”
The addition of the RBC patch is part of the newly launched jersey advertising program, which will allow NHL teams to sell advertising on their game jerseys starting in the 2022-23 season. Featuring the RBC name and shield with its iconic lion design, the patch is sewn onto the team’s official red home jersey and measures a standardized 3″ x 3.5″ at the upper right chest. It will be worn at all pre-season, regular-season and post-season home games and is available exclusively as an option on official jerseys sold at Tricolore Sports locations at the Bell Center and Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. The partnership announcement and new game jerseys were unveiled during the 46th edition of the Montreal Canadiens Annual Golf Tournament, an event that traditionally marks the start of a new hockey season and brings together the club’s partners, fans and media.
