Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is returning to its APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada for the mixed martial arts (MMA) event UFC Vegas 61 THIS EVENING (Sat 1 Oct 2022) Streaming LIVE on ESPN+. UFC Vegas 61 is headlined by the 115-pound showdown between top-10 strawweight contenders Mackenzie Dern and Yan Xiaonan. Before this five-round clash of styles begins, up-and-coming welterweight bangers Randy Brown and Francisco Trinaldo are looking to make their mark in the crowded 170-pound division of UFC Vegas 61’s co-main event.

Round 1: Oleinik low kick. When marching in, heads almost collide. He tries a combination. Latifi intercepts a low kick for a takedown in guard. One minute in. Short right hand by Latifi. Two minutes in. More short beats. Overhooking by Oleinik. Two more minutes.
Oleinik held him, Latifi regularly dropped his right hand. Oleinik’s cut near his right eye; I’m not sure if that’s because their heads collide. Just a minute. Latifi goes body-head. 10-9 Latifi.
Round 2: Body punch by Oleinik. To the right of Latifi at the exit. A minute in. Latifi ducks to the right and lands his own. Left hook to answer a knee. Lead to the right this time. Oleinik Kick. Fast exchange. They exchange jabs two minutes later. Both throw heat. Oleinik Kick. Front kick down. Latifi responds with a left hook, swallowing a leg kick. They tie up briefly. Good oleinic shot. Two more minutes.
Latifi shoots, denied. He intercepts a kick for his next try and lands in side control up. Just a minute. Latifi stays heavy and occasionally drops short punches. Nice set of elbows then some good right hands as Oleinik gets to his knees. The round ends again in side control. 10-9 Latifi.
Round 3: Good left hook lands for Latifi. Oleinik continued to trudge behind him. Another nice link from Latifi. He leads Oleinik to another left hand after a minute. Short overhand to the right. Oleinik low kick. He bites at a fake shot. Another counter hook from Latifi, then a hard uppercut to answer a clinch knee. Latifi takes him to the fence after two minutes. Short right hand. Uppercut during the break two minutes before the end.
Good clinch knee from Oleinik. Latifi puts him back on the fence. Short uppercut. They split up. Looking over the hand of Oleinik. Latifi switches levels and puts him on the fence again. Just a minute. Arm drag from Latifi and he moves to the rear waist lock. 10-9 Latifi.

Round 1: Ronson sidekicks after a non-binding push on both sides. Silva tries a head kick. Another a minute later. Ronson’s low kick meets a body kick. Very slow start. Ronson fires a straight left that falls short. Silva Lowkick checks. Clean jabs from Ronson after two minutes. Left hand down. Hard overhand shot to the right by Silva, best shot of the fight. Ronson fails with a combo. Run left and body shot lands for him. Another went down after eating a jab. Two more minutes.
Ronson kick, Silva leads rights. A nice combination from Ronson gets Silva to the fence and he avoids the return fire. Body kick and low kick one minute before the end. Silva doubles the right hand. Good right hand on body. Evil straight to the head, eating a body kick in return. Direct left of Ronson, eats jabs for it. Nice right hands from Silva and a flying knee strapping Ronson to the bell. 10-9 Silva.
Round 2: Early kicks from Silva. Ronson brings him back to the fence with a combo. They exchange crosses. Evil body shots by Silva. Ronson body kick in for a minute. Fast left straight ahead, then one onto the counter. Silva fires off snapkicks, eats a two-piece. Ronson tries a head kick. Straight left for the body kick. Silva digs a right hook below, narrowly missing with a high knee. Two minutes in. 2-1-1 by Ronson. Sneaky shift to the right of Silva. Two-piece falls short. Ronson low kick, Silva jab, attempted flying knee. Another one and this one lands clean. Ronson goes down and is inundated with punches until the referee intervenes.
End result: Silva def. Ronson by TKO (flying knee and punches)
185 lbs.: Brendan Allen vs. Krzysztof Jotko
Round 1: Allen crashing body kick. Jotko catches him off balance and gets him into cover, avoiding a transition from straight armbar to omoplata. Half watch in a minute. Jotko doesn’t make a ton from the top, and Allen sweeps him into the guard after two minutes. Allen lines up for some punches and Jotko manages to slide to the fence and get up. Two more minutes.
Nice side drop from Allen looking for mount. Jotko remains half on guard, has to defend himself against gift wrapping. Allen looks backwards with a minute to go and immediately wraps the RNC, who pulls the tap in seconds.
Bottom Line: Allen defeated. Jotko by submission (rear naked choke)
145 lbs.: Chelsea Chandler vs Julija Stoliarenko
Round 1: Stoliarenko times Chandler’s approach and puts her in side control. Complete assembly on the armbar, loses it and ends up in the lower protection. Chandler hard left a minute later. She emerges from an armbar and drills it with more left hands. Again she stands up and hits them with one punch before releasing them. Heavy combo by Chandler. Body kicks by Stoliarenko. Two minutes later. body shot. 2-3 by Chandler, another right hook behind. Stoliarenko fires a double leg and Chandler counters it with a mount. Right hand short. Stoliarenko wraps her legs around Chandler’s stomach and stands up. Two more minutes.
Left hand by Stoliarenko. Chandler throws her to the mat and lets her up. Stalk, land hard punches. Stoliarenko narrowly misses with a headbutt, eating up a pair of cracking straight lefts. Chandler counters another shot into the mount and bombards. Just a minute. Brutal punches from Chandler pile up until the referee intervenes.
Bottom line: Chandler def. Stoliarenko by TKO (punches)
135 lbs.: Randy Costa vs. Guido Cannetti
Lap 1: Costa pushes forward early. Body kick lands as Cannetti intervenes. Cannetti comes back with two heavy low kicks. As usual very busy with his kicks. He throws Costa off balance and can’t capitalise. Another low kick catches Costa throwing and knocks him to the mat. Cannetti immediately jumps on him and wraps a No-Hooks RNC forcing an impressively fast tap.
Final result: Cannetti def. Costa by submission (rear naked choke)
