My friends, the day has finally come. A brand new Nintendo Direct is here, preparing to bring us 40 minutes of new updates on Nintendo Switch games coming this winter and possibly beyond (!). Nintendo’s September Directs are usually pretty big, so there should be some exciting news for fans around the world.

We’re here to gather all the announcements in one place so you don’t miss any Nintendo Direct news, trailers or gameplay videos, and as always we’ll update this article throughout the show. Let us know what you’re most looking forward to below and have a great Nintendo Direct Day!

The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and will be released on May 12, 2023

Along with another sneak peek at gameplay, we finally have a release date and name for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Yes, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.

Pikmin 4 will finally arrive in 2023

While we didn’t hear too much about it, Shigeru Miyamoto stopped by Nintendo Direct to announce that Pikmin 4 will finally be coming to Switch in 2023. This news is a long time coming, as Miyamoto previously stated that the game was “very good” and “close to completion” in 2015.

Fire Emblem Engage was announced as a new mainline game and includes Marth

Fire Emblem Engage is the next main installment in the Fire Emblem series and follows a story set a thousand years after four kingdoms sealed off the great evil known as the Fell Dragon. In Engage, players become a divine dragon named Alear who must work to collect Emblem Rings in order to “bring peace back to the continent of Elyos.” You can even add other past Fire Emblem characters like Marth and Celica to your party as you travel.

Fire Emblem Engage is coming to Nintendo Switch on January 20th, 2022.

Octopath Traveler 2 announced with new heroes and the same wonderful art style

Octopath Traveler 2 will be released on February 24th, 2023 and will bring with it a whole new cast of heroes and a brand new story to experience, all with the same wonderful art style that sets the original apart from other JRPGS.

Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line celebrates the music of the franchise and will be released early next year

Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line is the ultimate celebration of the franchise’s music and a brand new entry in the series that began on 3DS. This new game will feature over 385 songs and will allow two players to play locally and up to four players online. There will also be a Season Pass which will add 90 new songs including some from Nier, Octopath Traveler and Live a Live.

Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line will be released on February 16, 2023 on Nintendo Switch.

Goldeneye 007 (with online play!), Mario Party and Pokemon Stadium lead the line of new N64 games heading to the Switch

Nintendo revealed some upcoming games that will be added to Nintendo Switch Online soon, and perhaps the most exciting one is Goldeneye 007. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Goldeneye will even feature online gaming. In addition to Goldeneye, Pilotwings, Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, and Excitebike 64 will also join the service in 2022 and 2023.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will be released on December 13, 2022

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will officially release on December 13, 2022 on Switch and other platforms. It will tell the story of Zach Fair and be a remaster of the PSP classic.

Wave 3 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxes Booster Course Pass includes tracks from Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart DS

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass launches this holiday and includes courses like Mario Kart Tour’s Merry Mountain and Mario Kart DS’s Peach Gardens.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Wave 2 of the DLC adds a new mechanical hero named Ino

The second wave of DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will add a new mechanical hero named Ino. It will also add challenge battles and new outfits. The DLC will be released on October 13, 2022.

In Splatoon 3’s first Splatfest, hunches have a choice of gear, grub, or fun

The first Splatfest for Splatoon 3 is coming soon, and players will be asked if they’d rather take Gear, Grub, or Fun to a desert island.
