Paddington’s official Twitter account wrote a simple message: “Thanks ma’am for everything.” The words echo Paddington’s own words to the Queen in the Jubilee short.
Paddington was just one of many celebrities to pay tribute to the Queen.
Paul McCartney
Former Beatles member Paul McCartney took to Twitter to express his sympathy for the Queen’s death.
“God bless Queen Elizabeth II / May she rest in peace / Long live the King,” McCartney wrote.
McCartney first met the Queen and Prince Phillip in 1963 along with the other Beatles. He was later knighted in 1997 for his “Services to Music”.
McCartney also met the Queen a number of times, including during her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
Ringo Starr
McCartney wasn’t the only Beatles member commemorating the Queen’s death. Ringo Starr also shared a short tweet, writing, “God bless Queen Elizabeth, peace and love to all the family, peace and love Ringo.”
Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey, was knighted by the Queen in 2017 along with Bee Gees singer Barry Gibb and author Michael Morpurgo as part of the Queen’s New Year’s Roll of Honour.
The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones’ official Twitter account also paid tribute to the Queen after her death.
“The Rolling Stones extend their deepest condolences to the royal family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who was a constant presence in her life as in countless others,” they wrote.

Lead singer Mick Jagger shared an opinion of his own. Jagger wrote on Twitter: “All my life Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has always been there.”
“I remember watching her wedding highlights on TV when I was a kid. I remember her as a beautiful young lady, the nation’s beloved grandmother. My deepest condolences to the royal family.โ
English rock star Ronnie Wood, a member of The Rolling Stones since 1975, also shared an emoji-filled tweet with his followers to mark the Queen’s death.
“Serenity = reality = inner peace and strength,” Wood wrote on Twitter.
Ozzy Osbourne
Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne paid tribute to the monarch on Twitter, sharing a photo of the queen from her youth.
“I join my country in mourning the passing of our greatest Queen,” Osbourne wrote. “It is with a heavy heart that I say that the thought of England without Queen Elizabeth II is devastating.”
Osbourne seemed to hint that his forthcoming move back to Britain would not be the same without the reigning Queen.
Elton-John
rocket Man Singer Elton John shared a statement about the Queen’s death on Twitter.
“Joining the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened by the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s death,” he wrote. “She was an inspiring presence, guiding the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, grace and a genuine, caring warmth.”

During his concert in Toronto on Thursday, John spoke of the Queen’s “inspirational” presence in his life.
“I’m glad she’s at peace and I’m glad she’s at rest. She served and worked damn hard,” said the singer in the middle of the concert.
“We’re celebrating their lives with music tonight,” John told the cheering crowd as he moved on to a performance of his 1974 track Don’t let the sun go down on me
Victoria and David Beckham
Taking to Instagram, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham said the Queen’s death was a “sad day”.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved monarch, Her Majesty The Queen,” she wrote. “She will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty and service and my thoughts are with the Royal Family at this incredibly sad time.”
David Beckham also shared several photos of the Queen on his own Instagram account. The former professional footballer wrote that he was “really saddened” by the monarch’s death.
“The devastation we all feel today shows what she meant to people in this country and around the world,” he wrote. โHow much she has inspired us with her leadership. How she comforted us in difficult times. Until her last days, she served her country with dignity and grace. This year she would have known how much she was loved. My thoughts and prayers are with our royal family…”
Dwayne The Rock Johnson
Outside the UK, Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson was one of many to cover the Queen’s death.
Johnson filmed a video of himself at the gym on Thursday and expressed his condolences to the royal family.

In the video, Johnson spoke about the death of his own father. In light of the death, Johnson said people should live on to honor family members who are no longer alive.
“In her spirit, we have an opportunity to live and live and live great, with passion and fervor and positive energy and with everything we have,” he said.
