Selena Gomez’s mom has revealed in a candid new chat on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast that watching the star’s harrowing documentary – My Mind & Me – “is going to hurt her stomach”.
In the sit-down chat, Mandy Teefey, 46, said she didn’t want to see the documentary of 30-year-old Selena – which chronicles her mental health struggles – because it will affect her physically
“It’s going to hurt my stomach and put me in that mindset. I’ll wish I could go and protect her,’ she explained.

The former Disney star’s new Apple TV+ feature chronicles her life over a six-year period as she confronts lupus, a bipolar diagnosis and fame.
She also speaks openly about a “mental breakdown” she suffered four years ago that Teefey doesn’t want to experience again.
“We went through this and found healing. We got through some of that and even if she went through it and I didn’t know she went through it – as a mother it will affect me,” she told the 35-year-old former monk.
Teefey, who gave birth to Selena when she was just 16, says she hopes she can “just get through the holidays where I don’t go to her place all the time: I’m sorry I didn’t knows.”‘

She continued, “You want to take the pain away from your kids. They don’t want them to experience that, although that’s part of the evolution of who they will be, who we all are – our pain, our suffering and our growth.”
And she said whenever she feels like watching the movie, “I either have to be in that mood … where I can’t get out of bed today, and I already know I’m going to be a little crazy, and.” then watch it and just be alone and kinda cry.
“And then call her and tell her I’m sorry I wasn’t there at that moment. But you can’t just be a helicopter parent,” she mused.

It comes after Selena’s shock with Francia Raisa, her best friend with a kidney donation, broke out on social media earlier in the day after the singer snubbed her in the documentary and called Taylor Swift her only famous friend.

Francia has since deleted her comment and unfollowed Gomez. However, Gomez still follows her on Instagram.
