Halloween is fast approaching and Grand Theft Auto (GTA) players are looking forward to participating in various horror events. While Rockstar Games has updated Grand Theft Auto Online with some spooky elements, players are hoping for the same atmosphere in other games as well.

Thanks to the modding community, fans can enjoy their favorite horror style gameplay in any of the GTA games. While there are thousands of mods to try, this article highlights the top five spooky mods to be introduced this Halloween.

5) New zombie script – GTA 4

Halloween isn’t complete without zombies. Grand Theft Auto 4 players should check out toyota12303’s New Zombie Script mod for some in-game experience for the festive season. The script turns every NPC in Liberty City into a zombie.

When the mod is activated, the time will automatically shift to night and the weather will change to a misty, gloomy state to add to the eerie atmosphere. Traffic is also disabled. The modder claims that zombie spawnings will be higher than in any other mod, so players will need a “reasonably decent PC” to run the script.

While Niko Bellic is a tough guy, the zombies move fast, making it difficult for him to survive on the streets of Liberty City. Players can download the mod from GTAinside and put Niko’s survival skills and reflexes to the test.

4) Defeat Ghost Rider – San Andreas

Ghost Rider has arrived in Los Santos to hunt down Carl CJ Johnson. GTAinside’s TommyV5 has created a working version of the famous anti-hero, complete with all of his skills and abilities. In her opinion, Ghost Rider is extremely powerful, but with the right skills, players can defeat him.

Ghost Rider can throw Hellfire Chain, powerful shotgun fire, throw fireballs, rueful looks, spit bullets, destroy all vehicles and send people flying into the sky. With such deadly traits, San Andreas players shouldn’t take the killer for granted.

3) Johnson’s Horror – San Andreas

While owning Ghost Rider is already a dread, the Johnson’s Horror mod allows players to turn Grove Street into a living hell. Game Modding’s modder AzerX2 warns fans, saying:

“Blood everywhere, fear, terror and this is just the beginning, it’s only going to get worse!”

The mod transforms the buildings and atmosphere of Los Santos into an eerie environment. CJ’s home is filled with ghosts, bloody handprints and satanic elements. Several creepypasta characters also randomly show up at the Johnson House trying to hunt down CJ.

2) Horror Blast – GTA 5

The Horror Blast mod fills the game with slashers and monsters from various horror movies and allows players to turn Los Santos into a macabre city. While monsters are the main element, the atmosphere transforms into an immersive experience.

According to modder HermanDude, the killer characters added to the mod are:

• Herbert West from Re-Animator
• Maniac Cop’s Matt Cordell
• Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
• Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and
• The big man from Phantasm

Characters spawn in different locations and display colored markers on the map that players can follow to find the killers. The mod also includes the Cerberus truck from Grand Theft Auto Online. Players can download it from the GTA5 mods website.

There is nothing better for Halloween than a Halloween mod menu. Developer TheCrusaderYT of GTA5 Mods created a patch that adds a mod menu to the game with several spooky items.

Players can get different weapons, vehicles, player skins and character abilities, travel to inaccessible places, bring zombies, change the weather and do much more with the mod menu. The mod is open source and the developer has provided detailed instructions on how to open and use the menu.
