Kevin Feige teases the much-anticipated proper introduction of the X-Men in the MCU by referencing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine return in Deadpool 3.

using a dead pool 3 Reference, Kevin Feige teases when the X-Men could arrive in the MCU. The mutants have been expected to debut in the Marvel Studios franchise since it reacquired the rights to the characters through Disney’s acquisition of Fox’s TV and film assets. There have been hints of the beloved team’s possible introduction, but Feige and Marvel Studios have opened up about when exactly the X-Men might join the MCU.

Marvel Studios has had several opportunities to lay out their plans for the X-Men. In 2022 alone, Feige made appearances at San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo. In both cases, he talked about the burgeoning multiverse saga and what’s in store for the franchise, but nothing about the mutants. Instead, the Disney+ shows have released clues to her arrival, including confirming that Ms. Marvel is the MCU’s first mutant and She Hulk‘s direct question from Jennifer Walters to the “real” AI KEVIN on the matter. It has since also been confirmed that Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine dead pool 3, That’s a pretty big deal, not just for fans of the character, but for the future of the X-Men as a whole.

Fig refers to Wolverine’s exciting appearance in dead pool 3, set for release in 2024 to herald the upcoming arrival of the X-Men in the MCU. Speak with meeting on the red carpet of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, he refuses to confirm any timeline for their launch – except to hint that the Ryan Reynolds-led Threequel could be significant. Read Feige’s full quote below:

That’s what Jennifer Walters just asked the robot in the last episode of She-Hulk. And I’m going to give you the same answer he gave, which I don’t remember wasn’t an answer, I believe what he gave, yes. But Deadpool and Wolverine, you know, we’re getting closer.

When could the X-Men make their MCU debut?

As expected, Feige remains coy about introducing mutants into the MCU, but it’s interesting that he references it openly Dead Pool 3 in conversation. For context, it’s unclear exactly how Reynolds’ Merc-with-a-Mouth will be included in the franchise. Given the vast multiverse, the upcoming version could still be separated from the Sacred Timeline in the Threequel, with the film’s events taking place in a completely different reality. The same goes for the iteration of Wolverine in the film. Ever since the hero died at James Mangold logan and while it’s unlikely that Marvel Studios will be willing to reverse this, it’s possible it may be dead pool 3‘s Wolverine is different from the one in the Fox Marvel Universe. In any case, Feige seems to be implying that the Shawn Levy-directed film will be an integral part of the X-Men’s arrival in the MCU.

Just because Feige and Marvel Studios haven’t spelled out their plan for them X-Men doesn’t mean they don’t have one. The MCU is known for playing the long game; it is safe to say that they now have a clear path to their eventual introduction. The question is whether they’ll be an integral part of the MCU’s Multiverse saga, or whether they’ll instead be more prominent in Phase 7 and beyond. While dead pool 3 may not have all the answers, but it will definitely shed some light once it hits theaters.
