Pour one out for your homies because the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Fresh start – and new accounts for 2019 Modern Warfare– currently requires a registered phone number for Battle.net, announced publisher Activision. This requirement follows a similar step by the publisher sister series surveillance 2which Blizzard has since revoked (for the most part) after immense public backlash.
Last week, Blizzard confirmed that a majority of surveillance 2 Players would need to register a phone number in their accounts in order to play the buggy-as-hell hero shooter. It was a controversial claim, something people — especially those with prepaid, landline, or VOIP phones — liken to “being punished for poverty.” You can imagine the criticism the company received given how many people in the US use prepaid phones. (According to a 2020 estimate, there were 74 million prepaid phone users.) Following player setbacks during the move, Blizzard updated its policy, stating that “accounts that weren’t connected to Battle.net, as well as new accounts” must still meet the SMS Protect requirements for access surveillance 2. While this might seem like a good decision, it seems that not everyone at Activision Blizzard got the memo about why this blew up. Modern warfare 2 will have everyone, new players or not, connect a phone number to Battle.net to play the shooter.

in the an updated blog post The company confirmed this on Blizzard’s website Modern warfare 2 and “recreated Call of Duty Modern Warfare Accounts” would require a phone number. The reason, Blizzard said, is that the company can hit your line with “notifications when important changes are made to your account.” Think of things like recovering your account name or resetting your password. Typical security procedures. In theory, that’s great, at least in that the company wants to address a real problem, even though the solution shouldn’t actually require a phone number. But on top of that, prepaid and VOIP phones don’t work. Sigh.
This news comes not long after Activision dropped video marketing Modern warfare 2. The video, a short compilation of Zero gameplay matched to a remixed military march theme, features a cast of celebrities and rappers –from Lil Baby to Pete Davidson to Nicki Minaj—“teaming up” with the gang. However, these people are millionaires and probably have no problem linking up with them Modern warfare 2 Friends as they can afford nice phones and a lavish lifestyle. The same cannot always be said of them Working class doing with the game’s seemingly exclusive phone number requirement stir up an impossibility. At least surveillance 2 It’s free.” The video looks numb and unbalanced The like-to-dislike ratio is emblematic of this fact.
The blog post only mentioned 2019 Modern Warfarethe forthcoming Modern warfare 2and the just released (but currently on fire) surveillance 2. While war zoneand the immediate Warzone 2.0, not to be educated, you need a Battle.net account to play any of Activision’s battle royale shooters. However, it’s unclear if the phone number requirement goes that far or just stops with the number Modern Warfare games.
