FRISCO, Texas– Dallas Stars CEO Jim Nile today announced the team’s line-up for opening night. The squad for opening night 2022/23 consists of 22 active players, including 13 forwards, seven defenders and two goalkeepers.
Additionally forward Nick Camano was placed on the injured non-roster and the defender Want butcher was loaned out to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ developmental affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
For the second time in as many seasons, the stars will open their campaign outside of the American Airlines Center. The club’s first competition of the 2022-23 season is Thursday, October 13 (7:30pm CT, TV: ESPN+/Hulu, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM, 1310-AM) against the Nashville Predators in the Bridgestone Arena. . The 2022-23 Dallas home opener will be held against Nashville on Saturday, October 15 at 7pm CT.
All fans are invited to attend the team’s Opening Night Watch Party at the AT&T Discovery District (208 S Akard St., Dallas, TX 75202) on Thursday, October 13th, which is free and open to the public and starts at 6pm :30 pm begins The kickoff event will include team giveaways, the Dallas Stars Street Squad, live entertainment and music by Stars Music Director DJ Shippy, and performances by the Dallas Stars Ice Girls and official team mascot Victor E. Green. The event will be moderated by Stars PA announcer Jeff K.

Defenseman Ryan Suter is the most experienced player on the team with 1,280 regular-season games played. Forward Wyatt Johnston has the fewest NHL games in the opening night roster as he aims to make his NHL debut.
Veterans are approaching significant milestones
Suter (1,280 GP) wants this season in his 1,300. regular NHL game of his career. The 37-year-old blueliner is the all-time leader in games among active skaters, ranks 22nd all-time for NHL defensemen, and ranks eighth all-time for US-born players. The 2022-23 season marks Suter’s 18th season in the NHL.
Jamie Benn (948 GP) is nearing 1,000 career NHL regular season games, all with the Stars. Benn, 33, would be just the second player in franchise history to reach this milestone, behind Mike Modano (1,459 GP with Minnesota/Dallas). A native of Victoria, BC, he was selected by Dallas in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft.
Joe Pavelski (1,168 GP) is on the cusp of 1,200 NHL regular season games in his career. The 38-year-old forward is entering his 17th NHL season and his fourth with the Stars. Pavelski ranks 21st all-time among US-born skaters, behind Tony Amonte (1,174 GP) at 20th on the list. With 421 career goals in the regular season, Pavelski is eight points behind Bill Guerin (429) in eighth all-time among US-born skaters.
